Contrary to what the speedometer might say (and GSXR 750 owners), a 2008 GSXR does not have the displacement to reach 180mph. A road test conducted in germany had a rider reach 181mph - or what said 181mph on the speedometer - but was actually clocked on radar going 173mph. 173mph is what a GSXR will reach at around 1200 feet altitude and 65 degrees fahrenheit. Depending on the altitude and temperature, you might have slight fluctuations. If you want to go 180mph+, just get a GSX1000R

In Spain my Satnav recorded a Max speed of 208 mph at the time I wasnt looking or caring about the speedo as was concentrating on other things. The bike has a full Akrapovic system and is considerable lighter than standard bout performing a GSXR 1000 in breaking distance. This was not a deliberate speed test.

Well a 2001 GSXR 750 can go 180 MPH on the speedo in Charleston, SC. The only mods are a K&N Air Filter, and a Yosh Tri oval slip on. I weighed 200 pounds as well at the time.

I maxed out my 02 gsx r @ 168. This is what the odometer read. I'm sure I was going a little slower due to -1 (front) , +2 (rear) sproket swap.

SOURCE: remove license plate

Pull the 4 bolts off the bottom. Then follow the wire up. Take off the side that the wire goes up into by pushing in the center of the black clips until they pop loose. After the side is off, there is a small white wiring harness that you can pull apart and split without cutting. There is a small button on the harness you have to push in order to get it to come apart. Should take 30 minutes if you've never had the plastic off before, 10 if you have.
