Question about 2004 Suzuki DR 200 SE

1 Answer

Tire saftey Got my first puncture in twenty years last Saturday. With only 1500 miles or so left on my rear tyre (tire) is it worth repairing. It was a straight forward puncture by a 3/16” wood screw. I have read that some manufactures don’t recommend speeds over 80mph with a plug type repair. The last thing I want is a tyre (tire) to let go at 100mph plus or even at any speed for that matter. Any words of wisdom.

A good patch job (removing the tire and repairing with a patch on the inside of it) I feel is much better than a plug, IMHO I used to do allot of automotive tire repairs with patches and can't remember if any actually came apart or became defective. The plug may have a tendency to loosen and leak. On the other hand, allot of people would replace the tire just to have peace of mind with regards to motorcycle tires. 1500 miles is close enough to justify replacement.

Take a new tube - remove the screw before )) - and there will be no problem. Notice: on FPS wheels WM type you MUST use a tube !
Only on the later wheels from Oscam MT type you can mount tyres without tube.
