How do I open the trunk seat?

How do I open the trunk (seat) for my 2003 Suzuki Burgman 650? I've been turning the key to the right but I don't know what else to do. Can you give me explicit directions on how to open the trunk (like I'm a 4 year old). I'm new to motorcycles, etc. Please help, I truly appreciate it. Thanks.

I own a 2003 400 bergman, The ignition key is froze so as it will not open the seat trunk, so I remove plastic from the lower right side (sitting on the scooter), I reach up over the top of the motor and located the trunk cable. I I pulled on the cable and the trunk open, until such time I can repair it.

Providing there is NO BROKEN CABLE turn key to center, push in about 1/8 inch (there are actually 2 functions to right) when you have turned it as far as it will easily go it should click and it should raise easily. If you don't hear the click there is a problem with the cable. The other function is start which i assume is working.

If the keyhole is a seperate one from the ignition, it may have broken the cable which goes from the keyhole to the seat latch. Other suzuki scooters use the ignition keyhole to un lock the seat, you turn it opposite way to what you would to start the scooter.

Burgman 400 trunk seat won't open, how can i get it open?

If the storage area is full you may need to press the rear of the seat down (a fair amount of pressure may be needed) and turn the key at the same time. I suppose that pressure on the cable could cause a trapped lock. This would need someone to fiddle the cable.

I hope this helps.

Battery Location

You have it all wrong!! Lift the seat and look close to the hinge of the seat and you will see a plasic cover that covers the battery - really easy to access once you know where it is. No brackets , just fists snuggly in the battery box. You may have to undo the seat strut to access easier
