Question about 1995 Yamaha GTS 1000

1 Answer

Damn clutch! My clutch has started slipping...but only at like 9000+rpm on full throttle, am planning on trying to bleed out the clutch slave 1st to see if this helps since the fluid is black and the previous owner hasnt changed it in 3yrs of ownership!? Also read an old article saying this is a very common problem and that the only fix is to change to a 2002+ clutch basket etc, this true? I was thinking of going with a barnett clutch kit and getting the updated pressure plate if needed as per the AF1 racing sites recomendation, will this slove my problem if the clutch bleeding wont? Also is it not possible to bleed the clutch normally? rather than reverse bleeding?

If the fluid is black flush the system and get new fluid in there asap. Try that first, it should solve your problem.

How do I blled my hydrolic clutch on a 2006 yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe?

Bleeding the clutch hydraulics will not solve a slipping clutch. You probably need to change the fiber plates in the clutch.

Hydro clutch

There is no adjustment on the hydraulic clutches...if it drags, bleed the system and check slave piston for leaks...if it slips, check that the piston in the slave isn't sticking...if that's ok check the friction plates for wear.

I have a 1998 Suzuki bandit 1200.I'm having problems with the clutch.I think. I noticed when I would accelerate the rpm would jump 4 -5000 before the bike would respond . I let off throttle to stop rpm...

make sure there is 3mm play on the clutch lever , select 5th gear while engine is running and press the rear brake to stop you moving away ! with a little revs try and set off , if clutch is worn it will slip and not stall the engine ! if this happens then replace the clutch plates !

The clutch lever does not depress clutch so you can get in gear

Make sure the clutch fluid reservoir on the handlebar is full of dot3/4 brake fluid and bleed the clutch slave cylinder to get the air out. If you can not build pressure or lose pressure after bleeding, replace the seals in the master and slave and bleed again.

CLUTCH SLIPPING WHEN WARM ON 1986 CALVALCADE. REPLACED CLUTCH, SLAVE CYL. CLUTCH SPRINGS AND BLEAD SEVERL TIMES. RUNS 20 MILES THEN WILL START TO SLIP.

Did you replace the clutch springs with the original ones? or with Barnett ones? the latter are much stronger and will not slip, unlike the original ones. Barnett ones are available from www.cademaster.com under cavalcade parts.

My bike wont go into 1st gear without dieing it runs fine except for that and tried bleeding the clutch

assuming there is nothing major wrong with the clutch and you have pressure at the lever.
The plates can stick together sometimes, if you can push start it, ride it with the clutch all the way in and vary the throttle, this can seperate the plates and it will work normal, change the oil after the ride and make sure it is motorcycle oil, as car oils will cause the opposite problem and cause clutch slip.

Clutch

Check to make sure the slave and master cylinders are working. You can probably bleed it if the slave cylinder started leaking. Could possibly be internal on the clutch master.

if the bleeding temporarily helps you may have a bad master or slave cylinder, check the system really good for leaks. also check that your hose isnt pinched or cracked.
