Question about 2007 Victory Vegas 8-Ball

2 Answers

Noisy starter I bought a 8 with 20,000 miles at the end of July. I love the bike, the only problem I have is when starting the bike, it makes a lot of noise like a Bendix Spring. Everything works great and starts with no problem, I also hear it just a little bit when I shut it off so I don't know if it is normal. any help or comments welcome. Thanks

Pull the starter and see what it looks like and make a decision from what you find....just two bolts and one careful when undoing the wire to the stater, not to turn the whole bolt sticking out of the starter....let us know what you are all ways helpful!

Check the cam timing and the ignition timing. If the engine is firing at the wrong time it will make turning over difficult.

The "sprag" clutch was replaced

I'd pass on this one. Maybe more than one issue, and I have seen broken transmission gears act like this.

Dog gone, sure is a lot of this lately. Seems every other question is this same problem. LOL

Ok, look at the end of your starter from the right side of the bike. You should see a five sided plate held on with three screws unless it has some kind of chrome cover on it. Just above this cover, there is a single wire connected to the starter. Unplug this wire and connect it to a test light or volt meter. Turn on the switch and press the start button. If the light lights up or your meter shows battery voltage, the problem is in your starter. If the light does not light up or the meter shows no voltage, replace the starter relay.

If the light does show voltage, remove the three screws that hold the five sided end plate onto the solenoid. There's a plunger and spring behind the plate. Take these parts out. Look into the solenoid and examine the large copper contacts in the solenoid. If they're burned badly, you can replace them. A kit is available for the starter solenoid that includes new contacts and a new plunger.

Good Luck

94 yamaha xj 600 wont rev over 6000 rpm

You bike is running rich on the main jet. Go down on the main jet size. Alternate to that, move the jet needle clip up one notch.

Go to the site below and you can download a free PDF service manual and parts manual for your bike. The service manual is 45th from the bottom of the Yamaha listings and the parts manual is 19th from the top. Now you can tune the carb and adjust the timing chain slack and a whole lot more. It saves my keystroke finger a lot of work also.

Please rate this solution. Thanks glouellette!
