I bought an 01 less than a year ago, and I can give you a rundown of the problem I had which seemed common. Feel good about this bike as the problem was very minor and I LOVE this bike. 1) Fuel Fittings...The tank has quick release fuel fittings which were recalled, but the recall only fixed part of the problem. as soon as I got mine, I smelled gas and had to replace the fittings. Cost under 100.00 US to get really good chromed fittings. 1 hour of work and they're great. they're located on the right side of the tank while seated and are just behind the frame. Flashlight and you should see them. 2) Take an assortment of allen wrenches to pull the bodywork if you can. At least drop the belly pan and look inside for signs of oil leaks. Mine was tight as a drum. I've put about 2000 miles on it since purchase and still loving it. That's it. This bike is well made-runs strong!! Hope he doesnt let it get away

I don't know the specific system, but back then it was common to split the throttle cables with no adjustment. You need to sync the carbs. However- chances are, if you haven't messed with anything, the carbs are dirty. I just had mine cleaned, the bike had sat for a while. The process includes synching them if you take it to a mechanic, but honestly, they probably won't need to do it either, if that's the problem. Trust me though- you mess with it, and it just needs a cleaning, you'll make it so much worse. If this bike sat for a while, I'd look at the cleaning, my guy charges $75 per carb, out the door no hassles. I rode it Saturday, plan on riding it again Friday.

Remove carb 01 heritage softail

Absolutely!
Now for a BETTER ANSWER, ask an ACTUAL QUESTION, providing greater detail as to the issue you are encountering.
The only thing unique about removing and replacing the OEM carburetor on the bike is the Bendix tool you will need to adjust the metering, which can be found on the Internet. Otherwise, it is a straightforward and fairly simple thing, and most after-market carburetors such as the S&S can be ordered with proper jetting and metering for the engine!
Let me know is anything specific you need help with. I've done a couple of carb updates on that era of Harley, so I may be able to provide some specific advice for you..

I have a copy of a service manual for my 1973 Aermacchi Sprint SX. The manual has no reference to torque wrench settings? Do you know where I can get this info?? Thanks in advance.

Hi Geoffa58, most of the fasteners on a Harley Davidson are made of medium carbon heat treated steel SAE grade 5 or better.
1/4"-10 ft-lbs.
5/16"-20 ft-lbs.
3/8"-35 ft-lbs.
7/16"-55 ft-lbs.
1/2"--75 ft-lbs.
For more information about your issue, please visit the websites below, and for specific information or questions please feel free to contact me at xlch@mail.com. Good luck and have nice a day.

As far as I know, there is no specific spare part for it. Have a look on ebay for a seconhand one. Maybe strip it for spares or swap it over?
Hope this helps.

On my 2000 955i sprint I had the same problem. I took the ignition switch apart and there was a loose wire. I re attached the wire and that solved the problem.
