There is a way to manually increase idle, but it is not recommended. Best advice is to take it to a dealer and ensure there's no other problems. If not, the dealer can properly increase idle. FWIW, the '02 and '04 D955is here idle between 1K and 1.1K RPM.

Changed oil clogged air filter with new after market air filter bike ran good until the third time I started it it would not idle unless it was choked

My Harley is very slow to warm up, it also does not like to idle without choke unless it is good and warm. It could be the clogged filter was acting like a choke, but ruining your gas mileage. Now with air flowing smoothly the engine needs a bit of choke to idle. It should not need choke once it is fully warmed up unless your idle speed is set too low. With the engine hot, check RPM if you have a tach. If too low, adjust the idle speed at the carburetor. I suggest you find the adjustment while the engine is cold.

ADJUSTING CARB ON A YZ 450 F

Hi, Anonymous the carburetor throttle shaft wheel has two cables the cable closest to the right side of the bike is the throttle cable and the one closest to the left side is the idle cable. Right about the middle between the two is the idle adjustment bolt it faces out towards the air filter end of the carb . The engine should be at operating temperature with the enrichener off to set the idle between 950-1050 rpm. Turn the idle adjustment bolt clockwise to increases idle speed and counterclockwise to decrease idle speed. If you have access to your air fuel mixture bolt you may adjust it as well if not there is a video below on how to gain access, make sure you start with clean or new spark plugs. Gently turn the air fuel mixture bolt clockwise until it starts to bottom out "STOP" do not over tighten as it will damage the taper on the end, now back it out 2 full turns to establish a starting point start the engine and check the idle rpm's and adjust the idle adjustment bolt accordingly for 950-1050 rpm if necessary, adjust the air fuel mixture bolt 1/4 turn at a time and let the engine settle for about 10 seconds, clockwise for a leaner mixture and counterclockwise for a richer mixture you are seeking the highest rpm your air fuel mixture bolt can acquire without going past 3 full turns from bottom then readjusting the idle adjustment bolt back down to 950-1050 rpm If you can not detect any rpm change and can not stall the engine by turning the air-fuel mixture bolt all the way in then your pilot/low-speed jet is too big. Final adjustment should be made with a clean air filter mounted to the carburetor. I have a triumph daytona 650 speedometer problem

Sorry I don't have a solution, but I have a similar problem. At idle, I run about 14.2 volts and it stays that way up to around 5k, don't go higher in my garage. Anyway, my problem is when my fan kicks on. I have seen my volts drop into the low 10's when fan kicks on. If it is hot out and I am in dealing with lots of stop and go traffic, my fan will kick on a few times...normal so far. But, if this happens too many times without a good stretch of riding in between, my speedo will kick off or go to 188 on the gauge when the fan kicks on. As soon as I pull out the RPM's increase and all is well, but sometimes, I will actually loose my speedo all together. If I shut the bike off for a minute then start it back up, the speedo works fine. Any ideas???

Bike overheating. Oil light flickering when idleing. I have a 98 Triumph Daytona that I just bought it has only 1,380 miles on it. I tried flushing the radiator. But its still running hot I did an oil...

Sounds to me that your battery my be slight low on charge, try charging it up. Running the bike with a low battery can cause havoc with the stator as well as the pulse coil, those are two things you don't want to be replacing.
Hopefully this helps you out.
