Question about 2001 Triumph Adventurer

1 Answer

Adventure SOS Hello everyone, any help here would gratefully recieved. Otherwise i'm gonna either hit bike with hammer (or hubby LOL). Heres our prob with his 96 adventurer. Had an accident, bike went over, and our lovely police lifted it off hubby and laid it over on the other side. Bike was left laying over during a downpour (dont know if thats got anything to do with it but thought i'd mention it) After that it kept dumping water, so advised to have head gasket done, at same time skim the head 9 thou. All back together water prob solved. Now the bike will not do more than 8 miles, 1st cylinder stops. As we've got a 2001 Adv as well started using that as a doner for parts. Swapped ignition pickup and main coils, ht leads, plugs. Makes no difference still wont go more than 8 miles. Someone suggested fuel/tank prob so changed that yesturday, now it wont even do 8 miles. She ticked over for about 10 mins then died now it seems 2 & 3 cylinder's not getting hot. It would not restart untill it was cold, then the same again. Just had carbs off and fuel tap/ petcock everything ok. Carbs looked at by mechanic nothing wrong with them. Just dont know what else we can do, we're no where near being technical so if you have any advise please explain it in simple terms. Is it fuel, electrical or engine any ideas? Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks

Swap the ignitor from the parts donor, and report back. That sounds like the only part you have not tried. OOps, the donor bike's Ignitor will probably be the newer style and won't plug in to the older bike. As far as electrical things that is the only thing you have not changed. Which side was it laying on? Also check all connections for corrosion, even slight corrosion could cause a problem with the ignition. Water could have invaded a connection while it was laying there in the rain.

2002 harley softtail;oil cap poping off and no it is not over full and new cap installed

You got one of those fancy spring loaded caps? If you do then it's gonna "pop off" if you don't get it fully tightened...Just when you THINK it's tight, you need another 1/4 round to fully seat it. Seen these caps blow off lots of times. Oily pants caused a few bikes to get traded in even, lol.
Don't forget, oil expands, and most everyone i know runs their oil level 1/2-1 inch low on a cold engine...the older glides with the horseshoe tank always gain oil after you ride a few miles.
I hope this helps.

I have a 2006 kawasaki valcan 500 with 2500 miles on it manual said i need 10 40 oil hubby siad i can put 5-30 advanced full synthetic oil for high mileage of 75,000.he said it dose not matters witch oil...

With out getting in the middle of a hubby/wife thing, Ha, Here is what i highly recommend: Especially because the bike has only 2500 miles on it, and it is only a 500 cc, i would positively put 10/40, otherwise might not make it to the 75,000. 5-30 is ok, but designed for higher cc bikes in my opinion , and for higher mileage bikes.

Slowing down going into a turn my bike backfires and stops runing. I hit the starter it starts right up. my bike a 400 Exc Racer 2002

Some people call this a ""cough stop"" assuming the bike is well tuned and nothing else is wrong ,
I use an upper cylnder lube in my wr450f called Moreys and it solves this, it also helps it start easier, I cant explain why, might not work for everyone, but its a cheap solution, hope it helps.

Dont know the torque of the air hammer lol im using a Bluepoint 1/2 impact wrench im goin to drill the nut in certain places to weaken it.

Why the hell are u using a 1/2" dve impact gun on your bike, Motor bikes are assembled back together and every thing slides back into place, then torqued to the recomened settings, take that 1/2" impact wrench and leave it in the car or truck garage, and do not use it again on your bike, unless you want to ruin it!!!!

Hello, i have a yamaha dt 125 r motorcycle and I have a problem release the front chain gear because the whole engine turns while i am trying to remove the nut from the gear.W hat should i do?

Did you try an impact driver? How about putting the bike in low gear? If not, just get a breaker bar on there an whack it with a brass hammer. I'm pretty sure it is a right hand thread. Hope this helps.

How to hot wire my ninja ex500

listen everyone knows if you wanna steal a bike just order a new ignition on ebay and take a hammer and knock out the old ignition and replace it with the new ignition and your done... SO with that being said who is gonna steal a ninja 500 they are so abundant the parts cant even be sold for much money so that means he probably doesnt want to steal a bike or pay 175.00 bucks to a shop... and most shops wont make keys sooo mwoodring1 if you dont know dont post...to answer your question just pop the top of the ignition with a hammer or screw driver and turn the plastic rectangle at the bottom to start and hit the selinoid or starter button...
