The throttle body on the right side underneath is a spring and shaft.. well its gone all bronzie looking which tells me its been leaking for a while however now theres fuel drops on it and its stained the casings were it drips off to. So whats this mean? is there a seal in there that lets go or is something rooted?,If you're bike is under warrantee, take it to the dealer! Otherwise first step to me clean the area so you can examine the components, check throttle body balance and TPS and look for any signs of a bad balance situation (one pipe more discolored than the other, etc.). If the basics check out then put in some gas (i.e. not diesel) Fuel injector cleaner and a tankfull of good gas combined with a long ride at speed. Next I would change my air and fuel filters, drain the tank through a coffee filter, checking for resedue and repeating the process of FI cleaner, good gas, and a long ride.,,,

Oil leak

Sounds like you will have to remove the cover and re-seal it. Use Permatex anaerobic sealer.

the pleasure of owning a delicate exotica when there are no Guzzi shops within 100 miles your bike can't be moved and your friendly and competent Kawasaki shop is hardly Guzzi knowledgeable (and so am I it seems) ... smile.gif I have broken some transmission bearings and am now confronted (again) with equivalence problems... As you may know the Ghezzi STW is made off parts from V11 and parts from the 1100 Sport. From the picture below would you say it's a 1100 Sport transm' or a V11 trans' ? Yeah, I know, I know, but Bruno Saturno is on holidays and the entire Italian economics is at sleep in august. I have looked here and there are several threads wich mention parts number but as long as I'm not sure which bike donated the parts, I'm stuck smile.gif I have taken a V11 parts list and here's what i need bearing 26 (92 20 80 14 numbers are from a v11 2002 list parts) needle bearing 25 (92 23 40 55) spacer 04 35 51 02 (i actually need to measure it to be sure if it's 0,8, 0,9, 1 or 1,1mm) Are there equivalence between 1100 parts and V11 parts ? (the parts numbers aren't the same on the parts lists). Would you know any parts that would fit from a different origin (SKF ?). Thanx for any help..., well, I just looked in the sport 1100i workshopmanual, there they say replace each 15000km with sporty use or each 20.000 km with normal use. I know they live longer than that. But anyway it is good to take them of each 10.000km, have them in your hand and feel if they move without play. And while you have them there, it's the perfect moment to grease them. And I'm no saint either, I once had one with melted bearing cages. But that was the sort that didn't have grease nipples.,,,

V11 Sport engine rebuilding

My V11 scura also seized but I'm not sure of the cause as I had help stripping the engine I found that I could get a new factory surplus engine for less than the cost of reconditioning the existing engine. Corsa Itialiana had a deal on a new engine It may be worth your while enquiring from them before you get into serious expense.

Engine

000km. ok so it has devloped a bad miss (similer to what they all do at 2800rpm) under 5grand not as bad over 4k rpm. I can hear the engine often back breathing and hissing and a heavy knock when back firing under slow excelaration the bike is back firing a lot not loud but wee crackels (after market pipes but not loud) sometime you get this with a leak in the pipes If it's knocking under load it almost sounds like it's detonating (which you wouldn't want to riding it too much if it's doing that,it's very hard on the engine components) and that makes me think that your timing sensor is playing up,which would also account for the engine spitting back down the intakes and back firing out the exhaust.I hadn't told you yet but I ended up buying both the Quota and NTX 750,reading the workshop manual for the Quota it looks a pretty simple job to diagnose problems like you have if you have the software,I don't have it yet so that doesn't help you out.Hampton Motors in Carmen RD are the new Guzzi agents here, get them to hook it up and the bikes computer should be able to let them know whats going on.,,,

Setting valve clearances 04 V11

I learned how to set the tappits myself 4yrs ago I brought a VTR1000 and never needed to set anything 2yrs ago I went back to MG... brought the V11 nero Corsa and for those 2yrs the shop has done my maintance. However the warantee is now up so I might as well go back to servicing the bike myself. Fill in the blanks please people, whats the clearances? which markings on the flywheel do I use for which cyl's? rotate the crank which direction? anything else I need to know? ,The left side is marked S and the right is marked D. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise when looking at the front of the motor. The valve clearances are .1 mm inlet and .15 mm exhaust in Australia, I think the yankee ones are tighter? Watch the inlet valve close when rotating the motor, then find the top dead centre mark s or d, soon to appear in the window. That is the adjusting position.Or use a broom handle down the plug hole to find TDC. ,,,
