Horn wiring appear to be alarmingly simple on diagram it's either the block or the switch or the earth (my guess is switch/earth as high beam flash dead too),,

Have a 2005 Harley Davidson flhtpi , every time I

Stop hitting the horn :)

No, but seriously I sounds like you have a short somewhere that is actually probably causing many more problems than just killing the engine. Check your fuses to give you an idea which electrical circuit the short is on. Check connections, and try the horn with the horn fuse removed. Be careful with riding the bike like this. I just had to replace a bunch on stuff on my bike because it melted due to a similar problem.

My horn wont work on my triumph rocket 3

Firstly check the fuse has not blown. Simple I know, but it is amazing how many times this is overlooked. If okay try the following:
The horn should have 2 wires. One is live the other earth/ground. Check that the earth wire is grounded securely and most of all CLEANLY. Try the horn now. If it still doesn't work run a live from your battery and touch the live connection on the horn. If it still does not sound I would suspect the horn is broken and needs replacing.
If it does work then I would suspect either the horn button is faulty or there is a broken wire somewhere in the horn circuit.

I have no lights on the speedometer nor does the horn work

I f the horn doesn't work I would check the top motor mount just above the horn. That's where the ground for the horn is. If the ground is good, then run a test light from ground to the horn yellow wire. Depress the horn button and if the light comes on then your power side is good. Then run the test light clamp to the battery positive and test the black wire " ground " side . If it lights up then you need a horn. The speedo and the horn are 2 different circuits so I think it's a combination of problems not just one. If the speedo works and the trip works, then I would check the bulb itself.

Horn doesn't blow wont crank when ignition turned on a 2003 dyna superglide

Harley horns fail. Replace the horn. If this fault has happened at the same time as engine wont crank then problem with wiring. If not then check starter relay (grey one). Also check ignition switch. Are the head lights coming on when turned on? If so the ignition switch is o/k. Connect a voltmeter to horn to check horn circuit. Accessory fuse 15 Amp supplies horn circuit and brake light and turn signal circuits so if these are working fuse o/k. Ignition/start circuit requires system relay and ECM fuse to be o/k. If fuel pump operates when run switch is activated then system relay o/k. Check start relay and circuit to start button.

Apparent electrical short or wiring trouble.

Check your fuses. Sounds like something in the horn circuit after the switch is shorted.

Why is horn on my vfr750 not working

Could be a number of things, firstly remove the horn using 2 lengths of wire
1off the live side of the battery, and the other off the neg side put the wires to the horn 1on each post and the horn should sound, eliminating the horn, if it works replace it to the frame,( if it does not work replace the horn) next you need to check for power at the horn feed wire, at the horn using a test light with the ignition on put 1end of the lite into the black wire and the other to the frame or engine, the lite should then light confirming you have power to the horn,( if you do) replace the wire to the horn leaving the green wire of the horn, ( if no power at this point double check all fuses)using a length of wire from the earth of the engine to this post on the horn should sound the horn, this would then point the fault at the horn button
circuit, hope this helps

The horn not working dt250, have power to wire at horn . Should a horn sound if connected to a 6 volt battery to test horn?

Does the horn have 2 wires or 1? Newer Yamahas have 2 wires....power to the horn, and then a ground wwire that goes through the horn button. If its a 2 wire....jumper the ground wire to a good ground to try the horn...if that works...check the horn button.
If its a single wire horn...ensure the horn is firmly grounded.

Xjr1300 1999 horn will only make a low pitch noise when button is used

check the connector to the horn. Ensure no corrosion...if it looks good...you can this...
Yamaha horns usually have 2 wires...a hot wire (pink) to the horn and a black wire returing to the the horn button...the button grounds the circuit to sound the horn.

You can also jumper the horn black directly to ground and turn on the key...if horn is loud now....you have poor connection in your horn button wiring or ground.

If it makes no difference jumpering and horn is not wet inside....probably the horn is bad. Some have an adjustment nut in the center that can be adjusted to alter tone somewhat....worth trying before tossing horn.

Need to sell my 2003 yamaha v-star classic 650 asap for medical care. only issue is horn isn't working. Not sure where fuse is to check that first. Thanks Deb

You either have a bad horn or a bad horn button. Unplug the wires to the horn and apply 12 volt current directly to the horn. If it works the button is bad. If it does not work try dropping it on the floor and test again. Next fiddle with the adjusting screw on the back with power applied. When you get frustrated enough with it you will break down and buy a new one (most cycle horns are junk and die from internal corrosion).
If you suspect the button turn the bike on and using a volt meter , test the two wires that plug into the horn to see if pushing the horn button makes the needle on the tester jump.
Sell the bike "as is" , tell the seller about the horn, and if they make a fuss knock $20 off the price of the bike. A new OEM horn would probably cost $50. A cheap aftermarket about$10.
