Long story). Today I got it out of the garage (which is clean and dry) with the intention of using it for the rest of the summer. Gave it a wipe over installed the battery and it fired up first time. Then I put it gear and it immediately lurched forward and stalled. Thinking it was me I tried again but the same thing happened. Both the clutch lever and the actuating arm are working. I switched the engine of and tried rocking the bike backwards and forwards in gear but to no effect. The clutch is permanently engaged. At this point I don't want to take the engine apart because I am due to go to Belgium on it next week. Can anyone suggest a fix which doesn't involve an engine strip. Lift rear wheel of ground start engine in gear, pull clutch lever and accellerate/decelerate hard a couple of times. That should free the clutch. I had the same problem once, and this cure solved the problem ,,,

Hi, Notinkent the parts fiche says 5/10 or 1:2 ratio but for this situation, I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. I have a 2003 Calif. EV. I left the bike for 2 weeks and found the battery was completely dead. I replaced it and when I turned it on the fuel pump made a different sound. The bike started and I drove it...

Check your connections with your battery, you probably disturbed or incompletely put your battery cables on. Any chance you accidentally hooked the battery up backwards for a second? I would check your fuses...

Clutch adjustment /hard to pull in

Lube the cable with a pressure luber and lever pirch. WD40 works well. If its that bad the cable probably needs replaced altogether.
Best wishes

Clutch

Either a warped plate or contamination of the friction material. Occasionally what you describe can be caused by a burnt clutch plate (too many hard starts) but if that's the case it usually gets a bit better as the plate wears. Unfortunately the only sure way to tell is to get it apart.,
