Its the original seat and the vinyl has perished I am 105 kg not fat nor slim dont know if I should get the existing foam scalloped and a recover or get a new guzzi seat or get something after market like Corbin from usa. John Moorhouse repadded and recovered the seat on my BM. The original foam had died of old age and I was sitting on the base. He does excellent work http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~maddoggy/index.html,,

Have 2011 FLHTCU Harley with low profile shocks need to come down 1 inch was told to take 2 inches foam form seat

Hi, Stan here are some options for lowering your bike depending on your needs and wallet:
1. Rear shock lowering kit.
2. Front fork lowering kit.
3. Shorter rear shocks.
4. Shorter front forks.
5. Thinner padded seat.
6. Lower profile tires.
Please be aware that some of these options or a combination of options will require a shorter kickstand or your stock one modified. Hi, Anonymous for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. I need a brake pedal extender for a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster Custom. Where can I purchase one or what can I do to resolve my issue. My air cleaner sticks out which makes it very uncomfortable...

I have never seen a rear brake pedal extender and have no idea of where to get anything like that. You say your air cleaner sticks out so far that it's uncomfortable to apply the rear brake? Has the air cleaner been changed? The original air cleaner is about as close fitting as one can get.

Good Luck
Steve

I have a 2006 Royal Star which I just purchased. It has 6,000 miles and runs fine. However, there is a chirping / whistling sound coming from the engine area. I was told that it was the " clutch pack ". ...

There is a clutch basket - can't remember the series number, but I think it may be "E" - that will typically reduce the chirping you're hearing. Many Yamaha dealers have replaced these under warranty.

The chirp is a product of the square-cut gears used in the transmission. They are cut that way to provide more solid contact/meshing, but they can sometimes be noisy. Swapping to synthetic lubricants such as AMSOIL will quiet things down a bit.

I have an '06 RSTD, pearl white, that I've put 42K on. It's a fantastic bike. Just don't ride it like a V-twin. The V-4 wants to rev! So never be afraid to wind 'er up. Think of it as sort of the world's largest sport bike. Oh, you'll probably want to ditch the extremely uncomfortable stock seat for a Mustang or Ultimate seat. The stock seats are the worst on the planet!

How do you reset the service warning light on a Sportcity 250

Hi,
When the vehicle is started and right after the ignition check, if there are less than 300 km (200 mi) left
to the next Service, the specific icon flashes for 5 seconds. Once the service mileage has been reached,
the icon remains steadily until the Service is reset.
The warning light can be zero set even if the mileage is lower, up to 300 km (200 mi), compared with
the Service mileage. During the 300 km (200 mi) before the service warning light comes on, the light
flashes 5 times each time the key is set to ''ON''.
The light should turn on first at 1000 km (625 mi). Successive times are strictly at 10000 km (6215 mi)
20000 km (12430 mi), etc
RESET
Hold the MODE button down.
Turn the key to ''ON'' and wait 10 seconds.
During this operation the service icon flashes.
Good luck,
Alex
PS-Don't forget to vote me, thanks!

Vibration

As per what Sev first said.... check all nuts and bolts. Not just the seat/sissy bar mounts, all the engine mounts, swingarm pivots, wheels, calipers, covers, bars, pegs, clamps.... everything. But most obviously the engine mounts, a loose or busted engine mount can make all sorts of odd things vibrate. While you're checking them out, make sure that any mounting plates or braces are not cracked, and that the bolts haven't stretched and are being torqued against their own threads, instead of the mounting hardware.

How good is this bike for long tours?

The bandit 600 would be great for the twists and turns on european roads, but I suspect it might be to uncomfortable for long distances. It's not a touring motorcycle, and it's suspension is a bit stiff to run on long distances.
