So that seems fine. I did some research and I think it's either along the lines of the spark plug(or ignition area) or maybe water in the float bowls from fueling up(?). I tried it again today and this time there was no *click* sound. I also noticed that the -neutral- and -check engine oil- lights which normally light up quickly at start up take a few seconds before lighting up. Now I think it's more in the electrical section but not exactly sure which area. I'm going to take a look at the spark plug and maybe try to drain any water out but was wondering if anyone had any other ideas? When you press start, the churning sound you (typically) hear is from the starter motor forcibly turning the crankshaft. While the starter is physically turning the engine, the engine is also injecting the fuel/air mixture into the cylinders and firing the spark plugs. If the plugs successfully ignite the incoming fuel/air mixture, the engine will begin turning itself over. If you press the button and nothing happens, or you just hear a click, the starter motor is not cranking the engine. The click you heard was probably the starter solenoid attempting to engage the starter to the flywheel of the crankshaft. The problem is probably the starter. It may be a bad battery. Reading the open voltage with no load on the battery tells you nothing. Put the voltmeter across the battery terminals and read the voltage while holding the Start button. ,,,

Ignition causing clicking noise when starting and has caused a slow start. Not the battery or alternator

Have the battery tested at a local autoparts store. The voltage may read good until you try and put a load on it, like cranking your car. If you had a meter on it when trying to crank it, you might see the voltage drop way down. This would indicate a bad battery.

The starting clicks

Firstly, The starter relay should click whenever you turn the ignition on and have the on off switch to on. This lets you know that the relay is energized.

It kind of sounds like a switch maybe bad. try pulling in the clutch, putting up the side stand, putting the bike in neutral, and then starting it. If it still wont start, you may have a bad switch, or relay, or connection, or something else.

But, it sounds like a switch.

Trouble starting, blows smoke, high revs, fuel leak out of exhaust.

first push starting it was bad. sounds like a stuck exhaust valve. and I think you had a dead ignition coil causing 1 cylinder not to fire, and it was fill with gas ,and then you forcing it to start did more damage

My GTR100 was running yesterday, changed a throttle cable, now when I press the start button all I get is a click and the lights dim. any ideas please

Sounds like either a flat battery ( check electrolyte levels and re-charge ) or a jammed starting motor.
If it is the starting motor then raise the rear wheel, put bike into first gear and with the ignition OFF try to rotate the wheel back or forwards. You can also do this with both wheels on the ground and rock the bike back and forwards , in first gear with the ignition OFF.
In future try to start the bike with the lights OFF as this reduces the power load on the battery.
Allways make sure the ignition is OFF when trying to free a jammed starter as there will be the chance of the bike starting and it will run away from you.
Good luck. jamesey555

1999 grand prix with an automatic starter yesterday has been starting and driving just fine----yesterday went to start car by turning the key and wouldn't turn over just made a clicking sound. Can not turn...

it's sound like you have a electrical problem between your ignition and the auto start. To get the key out underneath the sterring column there is a little square tab that you can pull off. after you remove it you can push a button in that hole and it will release your key.

My 2001 Acura RL has a problem starting. I've changed the starter and battery. When I turn the ignition key, the lights come on but it won't start. Their is no clicking or any other sound. I'll try...

Could either, could be alarm or ignition relay or ignition switch itself, could also be transmission selector switch try putting transmission lever in neutral and then start if it does the same you will know it one of the other causes. Have auto electrician check alarm and ignition relays.

Clicking starter=car not starting

Regardless of the battery age, sounds to me as if you have a drain on the electrical system First thing to do is completely recharge battery. An initial quick inspection might show a light staying on, whether it be a door , reading, glove box, or trunk lights, among many other things. If nothing is obvious an electical reading of the system while removing and reinstalling fuses will show the circuit causing the drain, Hope this helps
