Did everything as usual letting the bike idle for 5 minutes while I got my gear on. Got to the end of the road stoped then as I opened the throtle to pull away it cuts out. Restart then as I get to the next junction does it again. Pull over a bit to give it some revs, all seems fine, nice idle etc, then does it again at the next junction as I try to pull away. After that no problems at all, went out for an hour or so didn't miss a beat, was out on it the day before to with no problems. Anyone else had any of this sort of weirdness on their 690?,check out the fluid in the clutch reservoir. I was loosing some oil from the slave cyl. and when there was a lack of oil exactly same thing was happening to me.,,,

Speedometer cut off then back on later

Check the magnetic end of the speedo sensor. This is the part that goes into the transmission. If the end is covered with metal filings, clean them off and reinstall the sensor. Ride the bike and check to see if this solves your problem.

First thing....Change fuel filter. If that doesn't do it, you may have a bad connection connection in the main power supply to the fuel pump. Or a bad ground.

recheck all the battery and wire connections, take the volt meter with you next ride, to check the bat voltage if it stops again.
The stator can develop a layer short, which can be intermittant due to heat and vibration.

YZ not starting

I don't think this is a float issue. One way to check is to turn the gas off, take the bowl off the carb, hold the float up, and turn the gas back in. If fuel flows, the float needle is toast. It sounds suspiciosly like a worn topend, but it could also be a clogged jet ot fuel filter, or a faulty CDI.
