207 ktm 690 sm..headlight fuse keeps blowing, what could be the cause?

Run the wire far as you can and check for cracks, kinks or scraped away insulation that can ground against metal. I bet you'll find this where it makes a sharp corner or is pinched.

KTM DUKE 690, not starting, engine just clicks, is it flat battery or low oil levels

The battery needs to be in top condition to give enough power to turn that single cylinder engine. Charge the battery properly, not just with a battery conditioner like the Opitmate. When it's fully charged everything should be ok. If not, get a new battery and follow the instructions for charging it. If you aren't using the bike for more than a couple of weeks, get a battery conditioner to keep it fully charged.

Hi there! I want to remove my alarm system from my bike. It is a MetaSystems Defcom3 alarm. Although I managed to disconnect all connections of the alarm from the bike, when I try to ignite, the bike...

Are you connecting like color codes to like? Wires that were cut in order to install the alarm need to go back together as they were originally. It sounds like you're doing the right thing but you might want to double check the color codes to make sure you din't mistake one for another.

I have a 2000 600cc Grizzly. It was running great last week, now it`s not. The neutral light only comes on when the bike is runnin, and the headlights are on. The electric start doesnt work any more, and...

Even though you have a full battery do a load test on the battery. There could be dead cells in the battery this would have the effect. If you have dead cells then you would not have enough Cold Cranking Amps to start the vehicle.

2008 KTM 990 Super Duke added Leo Vince slip on's now bike will not start

Hi, Erideree young ECM's can be very picky about strangers wanting to play with her children, it should be noted that the reasons your FI light stays on constantly or flashes and your bike will or will not start and may turn over or not, these conditions will vary from bike to bike depending on the year, make, and model and you should always refer to your owners/service manual for proper diagnostic procedures. It should also be noted that any type of prior work done to the bike or an abnormal event occurrence IE: adding accessories, electrical curiosity/adventures, laying the bike down/crashes, rain storms/bike washings just before FI light issues started can be significant hints/aids into tracking down the gremlin. The newer the bike the more sensitive the ECM becomes and will not let the bike start when aftermarket accessories have been installed without being reprogrammed. That being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty Fuel Pump, fuse or system relay switch.
2. Battery starting to fail due to old age/damage, perform a load test.
3. A discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty safety switches/sensors: run/off, ignition, clutch lever, neutral, side stand, tip over, fuel, and or their connections.
5. Broken wire or worn insulation exposing wire to a ground situation especially inside wire harness at tight bends around fairing brackets, under dash panels, under fuel tanks over cylinder heads etc. Many harnesses are open on the ends that will allow water to enter and accumulate at v-bends.
Dielectric grease and contact cleaner are your best friends for wire/cable/harness connectors, look for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.
6. Installation of aftermarket accessories ie. exhaust systems, mufflers, air cleaners, fuel tuners, electrical component etc.

My KTM Duke 690 spun out on me while going no more

Hi Kathy,
Sorry to hear you have had a drama. It is often travelling at low speeds where you may experience problems like this, and come off the bike.
Things to look out for here are loose gravel or sand on the roadway where the problem occurred. This will make the tyres slid out from under you.
If the bike is brand new, another thing to look out for is products like tyre shine that may have been applied to the tyres whilst the bike may have been in the show room. Also new tyres have a wax coating that reduce levels of traction when brand new. you may have dipped a peg on the ground that could have levered the bike over on you also.
Hope this has helped you understand a little what has happened, perhaps get a biker mate, or bikeshop to check it out for you before you go riding again to be sure that there are no contaminants on the rubber surfaces of the tyres.
Happy to answer any questions you may have.
regards robotek
