Hi, I have a 1998 1.3 Suzuki swift that has a violent wobble at the front end. its not tires, balance or bearings as this was all done in its mot last week. cant seem to see any obvious problems with parts...

the mot dont prove anything much>?
you do know that a real shop , not mot goofs.
a real ASE shop would attempt a in car tire balance
and it would either fail, or they would see the obvious , pronto.
for readers, MOT is "SMOG TEST STATION" in English.
Site side, they are NOT technicians At all, they just do their simple tests and give you thumps up or down.

what can it be, (first end this assumptions deal, keep a 100% open mind, only the truth will come out)
1: bad balance or bad shocks, (dampeners)
a tire that is just tiny bet out of balance will be 10x magnefied
with bad shocks, since 1920 to now. no changes....

2: ; bad wheel bearings.
3: bad supspension parts. lose, bent, bushings bad etc.
try a suspension shop, ask for them to check the front end parts.
5: bad drive. CV joints, or axles bent or bad.
again any real ASE shop can find this easy. Not the MOT s

1987 300zx rust problem

OLD CAR. Depends how bad the rust is, do you need new panels or can you fill the holes themselves with filler ? Main thing is would it pass a MOT Test. Japanese Cars in the 70s & 80s were made from recycled steel, they were all prone to rust.

hi.
if there are no faults showing, then the most obvious thing to do would be to change the air filter, this is a relatively cheap part, but it can make a huge difference to emissions, even if it looks perfectly clean.
also make sure you take the car on a good run before taking it to the test centre to ensure that the engine and catalytic converter are up to operating temperature.

it is possible that the catalytic converter is clogged up and not working properly. the only cure for this is to replace it. the mot tester can usually tell you if he thinks it is the cat. my mot tester is always good for advice, just ask what he thinks could be causing it if the air filter does not make enough of a difference

Please explain where and what you think it is.
I presume it passed the MOT and it isn't someone who is jealous of it.

this possibly will be the MAF sensor or even the throttle itself, auto choke are a bit of a pain on fords and tend to stick the best way would be to take it to a place where they have equipment to test these things on i am surprised the mot center didn't tell you what the problem could be what is causing it to do it so you can get it sorted..but anyway sounds like the MAF might be playing up...hope this helps

Ford failed MOT on High CO emission

High CO usualy means the O2 sensors are not reading properly. Take it to a parts store that can read codes, I know Auto Zone does in my area. If it is the O2 sensor it is an easy fix but the sensors run about $50.00 each.

Lambda probe fault possibly

I bought a 2000 polo 1.4 yesterday after having an MOT. The warning lamp came on today but the car is running fine. Whether its the Lambda sensor or just the light itself is a common fault, I think garages turn off the lights to get it through the MOT then they come on again in a day or two!

Ford Mondeo failed its MOT exhaust emisson test

The advice that the garage gave you seems right. If any bushes were worn they would show up on the MOT Test. Try taking it to another garage to check out the Cat for your peace of mind.
