Do V-Twin exhausts help in reducing fuel consumption?

V-twin exhausts increase the power of your bike and so will use more fuel but it is the riding habits of the biker that affect the fuel saved on the motorcycle. The right motorcycle exhausts will use the right amount of fuel.

Thinking of buying one of three bikes, the Honda 1300 cruiser/fury, or the bulivard, or a V star, the fact that the Honda bikes are in use of a carberator, with fuil injection where it is today isn't this...

Fuel injection is a wonderful thing. It self adjusts for fuel and altitude. If you do any modifications to the exhaust or intake you will have to buy a power commander to further compensate for the changes. If you have a problem with the fuel injection system you will have to pay some one to work on it.
Carburetors have been around forever and the technology has come a very long way. Modern carburetors can compensate for altitude changes nicely(vacuum style). If you change your exhaust you can clean and modify/rejet the carburetors yourself. A nice feature if have a problem far from a dealer.
One thing to keep in mind, fuel injection adds a measured amount of fuel each time the injector works. This makes fuel consumption very consistent. Carburetors flow fuel according to how much you twist the throttle. You will get poor fuel economy if you always twist hard on the throttle. On the other hand , if you are gentle with your handling of the throttle you can often minimize your fuel consumption and possibly get better fuel consumption.
My last dirt bike vacation would have been ruined when my riding buddy had carburetor problems after running out of gas the first day. We disassembled the carburetor and discovered a loose jet, wrong air screw setting, and the vacuum piston spring installed incorrectly by previous owner. We were amazed it ran at all. Cleaned the carburetor, reassembled it correctly, and put settings back to stock. Now the bike ran like new and the rest of the week of riding was saved. Call me old school , but it sure is nice to be able to fix something yourself.
Modern motorcycles are well built, well designed, and extremely dependable. Buy the motorcycle that is most comfortable, offers the options you want/need for your riding style. The V-star offers a lot of chrome if you are into that. Just remember: Chrome Don't Get Yah Home.

Fuel consumption

Real Life experiance, if you ride your bike at high speeds, even with Over Drive engaged, I end up doing about 180~200 miles per 5~5.25 gallons which breaks out to about 36~38 mpg.

Course, slowing it down to 60~65, in OT will get you another 25~35 miles per tank extra. If you need better MPG, suggest the 650 for the job, The litter is solid for rider/passenger, as the 650 is more for the rider only with added mileage clearly in the 40+mpg rating..

Gas consumption dropped after service

my fuel consumption dropped from 19 km/liter to 16km/liter at 140km/h. What could this be? The service was done on 7500km but they did not do anything with the fuel. So what could it be? Even when I was going 180km/h it is still 16km/liter. I must say that the Capo now reach 230km/h without a problem on a straight road. Before I could only get 215km/h. Any thoughts?I think your aprilia dealer have change the CO² on the ECU ,
