Mitsibushi pajero oil light time

White SWEET smelling smoke, or white OILY smelling smoke? If it's white thick SWEET smelling smoke, you have a blown head gasket - that's the smell of antifreeze burning in the engine, which it should NEVER do. If it's white OILY smelling smoke (smells a lot like diesel), then you're getting too much fuel into the cylinders.

If it's sweet-smelling smoke (antifreeze), pull the oil dipstick & check the oil level. If the oil level is HIGH and the oil looks like a mocha milkshake, that's absolutely conclusive - that's what happens when antifreeze gets into your oil, and it's nasty corrosive to engine parts.

I'm not at all surprised that the oil light is on if it won't start - you won't get much oil pressure until the engine is running.

White smoke petrol 1.4 renault clio.not stem

White smoke: White smoke is caused by water and or antifreeze entering the cylinder, and the engine trying to burn it with the fuel. If white smoke is present, check to see if the proper amount of antifreeze is inside the radiator and the overflow bottle. Also check to see if antifreeze has contaminated the engine oil. You can look at the engine oil dipstick, or look at the under side of the engine oil filler cap. If the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, it will have the appearance of a chocolate milkshake. Do not start the engine if the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, as serious internal engine damage can result.

It is also possible to be a engine problem you should immediate visit a car service.

2001 Toyota Highlander: Extremely high oil usage on highway, about 1 qt per 250 miles. No such problem whatsoever in the city. No oil leak on driveway. Very reproducible, so quite a mystery.

the best way to find a oil leak is to get a better look go under the car and look at the oil pan for any signs of leakage open your hood and look around the valve covers and intake for leakage these are the normal places oil will leak from first. second i would watch the exhaust for white or blueish white smoke and third i would pull the plugs to see if there is oil being burned.

Transmission fluid level need regular top up and there is no external leak.Fluid color looks white.

If no external leak and the transmission fluid colour looks white, the problem belongs to the automatic gearbox oil cooler. The oil cooler has broke mixing the gearbox oil and coolant causing this milkshake. It's a small radiator core type oil / water heat exchanger. It is cracked inside and transmission oil is mixed with engine coolant. Because the transmission oil pressure is greater than engine coolant pressure, the transmission fluid level drops. See also the coolant colour inside recovery coolant reservoir inder bonnet! It could be like this:

I have white smoke coming out the exhaust pipe

If you are having a lot of white smoke all the time the car runs then check for coolant mixing in with the oil, look for water in the oil when you check the oil or milky brown oil. This produces a white "steam" that is very thick to come out of the exhaust. If your engine temp. gauge is very high and over heats you probably have a blown head gasket. If it has a bluish tint look it may be burning oil. Indications might be how much oil is currently in the car i.e too much oil, or if there is a leak in the line you may be adding a bunch of oil over a short time. If it is only when you first start the car and the engine is cold, then it may be that your valve seals are bad and need replacing. Hope this might help or at least give you some ideas..

Sometimes water vapor gets in through the vent in the crankcase and as the motor heats the only way to go is up!!!!! I wouldn't worry about it since you checked the oil and it looked fine. If it was a bad gasket or a craked head your bike would have a bad miss and the oil in the crankcase wouold look like milk...................
