Question about 2001 Hartford VR 125Z

Cooling system I was told using a radiator cooling liquid after using regular water for a long time is bad. Why?

Using regular water is not good. But you have used it for a long time there is a sligt chance that you have small cracks in the radiator and the scale from thae water is what keeping it from dripping. Changing into cooling liquid will open those cracks.

My r6 dies when it gets out,what could be the problem?


If your bike is getting hot it shouldnt be, sounds like a cooling problem. if its liquid cooled id check all parts check for leaks make sure it is full at all times . bike getting hot to many times will seize it up. could be a bad head gasket also. Radiator could be plugged also a cooling port may be clogged in engine make sure the coolent is flowing if it isnt dont run it till you figure it out. remove radiator flush it out .blow it out with air make sure the fins are not damaged and air flows freely threw radiator. flush engine out with engine flush. read directions.

Cooling system


The KTM sx is a full race bike - the radiators do not have fans to keep the bike cool when not moving - the bike must be moving to keep the air passing through the radiators to keep the engine cool - if you have the bike standing still there is no air moving through the radiator - hence why it over heats - tip start the bike after you are fully kitted up for your ride - let it warm up for around a min tops then ride - if you have to stop for a period of time when riding turn the bike off - I have the same issues of over heating if not moving on my VOR 530 - I do as described above and have no issues at all with over heating when riding. good luck

Start the engine, after some time the radiator must be warm and later hot, then the fan must go ON, if not, you are short with cooling liquid or you have the air bubble in the system, you can let the bubble out if you unscrew the bolt on the thermostat housing which is under the metal cover on the front left side of gas tank, unscrew that (m10) bolt while bike running- slowly, when water drops come out, your system is full.

Engine gets too hot after some running minutes. there is some white liquid over the right cylinder. Can it be water pump?


If the 'white liquid' is like a froth then it is probably water & oil mixed. This happens when there is water in the oil or oil in the water. The usual cause is either the mechanical oil seal behind the water pump leaking or the head gasket leaking. As the right cylinder is covered in this, it is most likely to be the head gasket.
Otherwise it could be that the 'white liquid' is coming from a leaking radiator. If the cooling system is filled with this froth then it wont cool the engine properly.

Bleeding Air from Cooling System


With the system cold, fill the radiator with a 50/50 antifreeze and water mixture - fill it all the way to the top, then put the cap back on. Now, fill the plastic overflow bottle about 1/2 way with your antifreeze solution.
Ride the bike until normal operating temperature is achieved (or longer, if you like). Now park it and let it cool down again. Then, check the coolant level in the overflow bottle and add more antifreeze, if needed.
When you operated the engine until normal operating temperature was achieved, all air trapped in the cooling system gets pushed out by the expanding coolant (out through the overflow bottle and into the atmosphere). Then, during the subsequent cool-down period, only liquid is drawn back into the radiator from the overflow bottle as the engine coolant cools and contracts, not air. From this point, as long as the radiator cap is not removed - and the overflow bottle is maintained at the 'full' level, no air will enter the system.

I have a 2001 yamaha wr250f and after running only a couple minutes the header pipe is glowing orange!! verry hot, what are some of the things that may cause this? thanks Rod.


Air leak causing a lean fuel/air mixture, bad radiator cap killing pressure in the cooling system, low water in the radiator, plugged radiator, broken water pump, not using premium gas and a spark plug with the wrong heat range.

Oil in water


ok why are you using water should be using coolant there is allways coolant in the block radiator and header tank the pump circulates the coolant around the block and back into the radiator to be cooled if the radiator is still leaking you shoul repair with rad weld dont leave it keep the haeder tank topped up check radiator and hader tank regularly
