Sportster keeps blowing headlight, tail light and turn signal fuses.

You've got either a short or grounding problem somewhere causing all that. Check the wiring, make sure none of it is worn through the protective jacket to the wire, which may be touching other metal on the bike and shorting out, just as it would in your home electrical wiring and fuse box. Blowing or tripping a fuse protects you and the rest of the electrical system from further damage. If you can't find anything, check with a local repair shop.

I just got my first motorcycle, a 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit (VT759DC) and before I take it out on the road, I want to be sure it's ready for the ride. I manually checked the lights, brakes, etc... but do I...

Always have an escape route.
Never go through the intersection first or last.
Drive as though you are invisible not invincible.
If you are scared .........slow down
ALWAYS wear you boots and protective gear.
Go online and read up bike riding is nothing like a car. People will try to run you off the road.
I would find a manual for the bike. You may usa a different manual because all general maintenance is the same. Do a 10k scheduled and the bike will be fine.
Do not ride with dry rotted tires.
Have FUN and plz be SAFE

2010 YZ250 2 stroke Overheating - the bike is used for extreme enduro riding. I have recently found that it is overheating very easily. Any idea what can be causing this?

Sounds like an overly lean condition accompanied by a high compression situation. Perhaps the bloke that owned the bike before you had the head cut to increase compression. In this case, you could either replace the head or run high octane fuel.

Also - look at the water pump condition - seals and the drive gear. The seals might be leaking if your oil is discolored and the gear that drives the impeller has been known to shed teeth over long periods of time. It is also quite possible that the bearing is shot.

Also check to make sure the head pipe does not have any leaks near the cylinder.

I have a nid 70s enduro 100 it runs great but whaen i put it in gear it jumps a bit then dies it starts in gear as long as the clutch is not engaged im a bit lost ps i do know how to ride so its...

It sounds like your clutches are stuck. If the bike has been sitting for awhile the clutch plates will stick together. Sometimes they will unstick.1st I would change the oil. Then i would place the front tire up against a solid wall start the bike pull in clutch put in gear ,repeat a few times. If this does not unstick the clutch you might have to replace your fiber clutch plates.Hope these helps

When 1973 enduro is in higher gear the bike revs

Yes, it does sound like a clutch, but make sure you have a little free play in the clutch lever. Age will make the clutch plates deteriorate.
You need to remove the right side engine cover to get at it. Take your time and note where all of the pieces are. Pre-soak the new clutch plates (The ones with fiber on them) in oil before you install them.

Oil is a grey colour in the engine of my yz 125 2001

Your bike is water cooled. Some of that water is leaking into the gear box. The cylinder gasket is the likely leak. I would let the shop take a look at it instead of trying to fix it yourself.

But be sure there is not an external source for the water. Do you wash the bike often? Ride the creek bed often? Leave the bike where the lawn sprinkler gets the bike wet? Leave it out in the rain? Change the oil and keep the bike dry. If the problem comes back then go see the dealer.

I want to know- if there is a big difference between a 2001 v-star classic and , say a 2005 or 06 v star classic. Are the newer ones lighter, or advanced in some way, enough to make a difference?
