Now the manual ive dl'ded say to add abt 1800ml of oil BUT the amount of oil i've dumped is more than 2500ml so any ideas on the correct amount? either the previous owner or the manual? My 05 Manual says 1200mL. I was only able to put in 1L or a bit less before it overflowed the hole for me. So i capped the oil hole and ran the bike for a few seconds to get oil into the crankcase. Then filled the rest. If you put in 2500mL this is way too much. You need to drain it and start over with the correct amount.,

I've got a yamaha 125/abs 2015 model and my right hand side display is indicating serv oil what does that mean? Is it normal my bike is not even a year old?

Hi, Anonymous ahhh modern technology your service indicator light means it's time for maintenance, oil change, inspection, lube cables, etc. you can do it yourself or take it to a shop. Most SIL's go by time or miles some go by engine hrs. if you want your bike to give your trouble free riding you have to give it some TLC from time to time. easiest fix is to run a non synthetic oil to help the rings sea,l wont seal for about 20 hours of ride time, about two oil changes. The rings and cylinders were hardened for long gevity.

This could mean that you need to adjust the clutch or you may have too much oil in the primary chain case. First the easy thing to check. Take the derby cover off the primary and check the level of the oil with the bike standing straight up. With the side car, that should be no problem. The oil level should be just up to the bottom of the outer clutch drum. That's the bright aluminum "ring" around the clutch assembly. Too much oil and it gets between the clutch plates and acts like the transmission fluid in a torque converter in an automobile. Don't overfill your primary chaincase.

If you want to adjust the clutch, find the clutch cable adjuster, slide the rubber boot up or down to gain access to the adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster barrel inwards to get a good bit of slack in the cable. At the derby cover, which should still be off, you'll see and adjuster in the center of the clutch assembly. Loosen the lock nut and turn the center adjuster screw inwards until you feel a resistance. Do not force the screw, just until you feel the resistance. If you need to, turn the screw back out and then in again until you get the feel of what you're doing. Once you've got the screw turned in until you feel the resistance, back the screw back out 1/2 turn and lock the locknut down. Put the derby cover back on. Go back to the cable adjuster and turn the adjuster barrel outwards until you've got about 1/8 inch of slack in the cable. Lock the lock nut down and replace the protective boot.

Good Luck

When shifting into 1st gear, only do it when the engine is at or near idle speed. That should "fix" the noise problem. Clean the air filter and install a new spark plug. Then drain the carburetor float bowl. Chances are water condensed in the gas tank has made it into the carb and is affecting performance.

Well, just like in a car engine, there is no way to change out all of the oil. There's going to be some pockets of oil left somewhere in the engine. I've torn down engines that haven't been run in twenty years and found pockets of oil sitting in the heads and places like that. If you've changed the oil several times, you should be good to go. Did you check the primary case oil? I've seen the gasoline get in there as well. Drain it and add a quart of oil and you'll be fine.

Good Luck

Oil change

hi mate its very easy to do a oil change basically 1st warm the engine up to make the oil thin so it all drains then you need to take the bottow body off then underneith the engine you will see a plug undo it and drain the old oil into a bowl and then i will reccomend changing the oil filter at the same time as the filter will be dirty and new oil mixed with dirty oil not a good thing then once the oil is empty unscrew the oil filter then on the oil filter put a bit of oil on the rubber seal then screw the new oil filter on and do the plug up tight then unscrew cap on side casing and pour oil in that hole then once the oil reached 1/2-3/4 on the sight glass located on the side casing at the bottom put the filler plug back in and put body back on good luck bud
