She decided to not want to engage consistently whilst kick starting. So (A)how hard is it to change the ratchet assembly? (B) How pricey is it? (C) I noticed while searching I am not the only one with low hrs and a poorly functioning ratchet Whats up with this? And is there any way to improve it or do I just put them in eat them up and put them in again? oh and (D) what parts will I need to order gaskets, seals, springs, bushings etc etc to do this job? Kind of bummed a bike with less than 30 hrs on her which starts in 1 to 2 kicks needs this. But other than this she kicked arse.,My 07ec250 had this problem with about 15 hours or less on the motor. The problem was a too weak spring that pushes the two engagement gears together. I substituted the spring from my 01xc300 and haven't had a problem since (the 01 spring is noticeably stiffer). Apparently very small bits of metal on the shaft cause enough drag on the engagement gear so that it will skip instead of pushing fully together. Anyone having this problem may get by for another ride or two if they change their gearbox oil but the spring must be dealt with before the engagement gears lose their sharp teeth. Removing the spring and stretching it to increase it's stiffness may do the trick, anyway it's worth a try to save your gears which cost 60-70 bucks.,,,

Starts but will not run. like it is not getting gas once the throttle is touched

its a carburation problem. probably due to either your choke sticking open or your fuel air mixture set up incorrect. check your plugs and have a look at the condition. if they are black and sooty your mixture is too rich. if theyre wet you possibly have a weak spark so check plug condition etc.
if you can give me more info i maybe able to advise further.

I have a 95 1100 ACE. Everything worked fine for months, but this last weekend I left the lights on and the battery died. It wont charge with a trickle charger (20 hrs barely got lights on). When hooked to...

Here is my idea ...

If the battery is older than 24 months, I would replace it. When you left the lights on ... you drained it to the bottom. IF it takes a charge, it will be many hours at a trickle if you can bring it back at all.

That is my idea ...

Of couse you can do a voltabe check and a hydrometer check ... I think they will all point to a new battery.

Your battery can not be effectively charged by your alternator ... because for your alternator to work, you have to first put power into it (not self exciting). Since your battery is dead, that method will not work.

I have a Bajaj Pulsar 150cc bought in 2007. I regularly give bike for servicing and the running is smooth and in good condition. Suddenly from last month, whenever my bike gets wet in the rain for some...

Start at you battery and work back towards your ignition inspecting each and every harness connector...disconnect, clean with electric contact cleaner, apply a small amount of dielectric grease and reconnect, even the connectors under the seat. Take your time and it will be worth the effort. Check all the grounds too.

I would pull the plug out and see if it's flooded. If the cylinder got full of gas and at TDC it would lock up. Try that and keep me posted. Good luck!

Don't use cold start.it will not solve your problem.Try running it with out the air cleaners ,it may be that you have an air intake problem and not getting the right Air / fuel mixture .

My ER5 Clicks instead of turns on

Check if the battery has 12 volts.
Check the battery terminals if they are corroded with acid deposit. Clean them if they are, by using a wet sponge, wet it with water and let it stay for a while on the terminals this will ease off the corroded acid deposits.
If the battery is ok and if there's no acid deposit on the terminals , thn you have to check the starter motor, it may need to be overhauled.
Better too to check the solenoid switch.
Hope this helps!
