Question about 2008 Gas Gas EC 200 Hobby

Smoked Clutch I bought an '01 EC200 a few months ago that needed a little TLC. It runs great and seems to be very strong. I've had it out a few times just chasing the kids around and such. The last time out I was running it pretty hard (for me) and I pretty much lost all action in the clutch. Meaning

The only clutch action I was getting was /is in the last 25% of the lever throw. I brought it home and let it cool and tried bleeding the clutch. Didn't seem to help. I have no idea what tranny oil is in it. Figured I'd just tear it apart and check things out with the plates and such. Anyone got any tips or links on what I should be looking for? If you haven't figured it out yet...I'm very new at this but I enjoy doin my own wrenching so any help will be very much appreciated.Look closely at the master cylinder and lever. When you pull the lever does it almost instantly start pushing the mc piston? Is there too much clearance between the lever and mc piston? Is the adjuster screw missing from the lever? There is also a push-pin between the adjuster screw and mc piston the dust-boot holds it in place. Is it installed? If the adjuster comes loose that pin can fall out.,,

I have a 2003 Ducati 749. Brilliant bike that I bought a few months ago. It has a noisy crancase upon start-up. The noise dissapears when the clutch-lever is engaged.

Hi, Tom for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. 74 honda TL125 with a free play feel in the clutch leaver

On most bikes, there is a rod going down the center of the clutch. The lever on the case pushes this rod in when you squeeze the lever on the handlebar. If the rod going through the clutch will not move, the clutch will not release. It doesn't move very much, maybe a few millimeters. If you cannot remove the rod[you may have to use a magnet to pull it out] then the rod is bent. This could have happened if you assembled the new clutch incorrectly. If the sequence during reassembly was wrong, the disks were jammed. When you squeezed the clutch lever, something had to give. The clutch rod.

Yamaha TW 200 starts but won't run.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..

Clutch not fully disengaged, hard shifting - 96 FLHTCU

If the previous solution doesn't fix it, beg, borrow or steal (maybe even BUY) a service manual and run thru the clutch adjustment BY THE BOOK.. I also would suggest removing the clutch cable and checking for binding, fraying, kinks, etc. If the problems still persist, total disassembly and inspection of the clutch will have to be done.

Knocking sound

Does this knocking sound change/subside when you pull in the clutch lever? As the clutch baskets wear or go bad they develop free play between the basket and the drive gear that is riveted to it. Since you don't know ''dick" about bikes i suggest you either pick up a shop manual or go see dick, who hopefully knows more than you! Internet diagnosis can git a bit complex, especially when you don't know your way around the machine! You may get a ton of suggestions but following them thru may be beyond you abilities?

What to look for when buying?

I bought an 01 less than a year ago, and I can give you a rundown of the problem I had which seemed common. Feel good about this bike as the problem was very minor and I LOVE this bike. 1) Fuel Fittings...The tank has quick release fuel fittings which were recalled, but the recall only fixed part of the problem. as soon as I got mine, I smelled gas and had to replace the fittings. Cost under 100.00 US to get really good chromed fittings. 1 hour of work and they're great. they're located on the right side of the tank while seated and are just behind the frame. Flashlight and you should see them. 2) Take an assortment of allen wrenches to pull the bodywork if you can. At least drop the belly pan and look inside for signs of oil leaks. Mine was tight as a drum. I've put about 2000 miles on it since purchase and still loving it. That's it. This bike is well made-runs strong!! Hope he doesnt let it get away
