But it was not as deep as the original. Did the older bikes have a sallower basket. Mine is a 2005 and holds 8 fibers and 7 steel plates. I can't find any partd lists for the older bikes on the web. First a question. Are you using the original clutch fiber plates and friction disks or, did you get a new pack of plates and disks to go with the new basket. I'll explain my question below. The clutch on the 125 is sort of touchy. I tried various configurations, mainly using all steel drive plates, instead of the combination of steel and aluminum. I was only able to make it work properly using the OEM GG configuration. The 125 uses a different clutch than the larger bikes. (The 200's clutch basket has a different gear on the back, but otherwise it's clutch is the same as the larger bikes.) Make sure your replacement clutch disks & plates are not for the larger bikes. (I recently saw an ebay seller's auction that claimed to be a clutch rebuild kit for the GasGas bikes. It only had 7 friction disks. ) The original clutch for the 125 Gasser had a combination of aluminum and steel drive plates. The friction plates were all the same. The 2005 parts book lists them as being 3 iron disks and 4 aluminum disks. (In my memory, I thought it was 4 steel and 3 aluminum.) If you download and look at the parts book, http://www.gasgasmotos.es/rcs/manual...emotorec05.zip , the 125 clutch is on one of the last pages of the book. (page 48 of 50) BTW. I still have a new OEM GasGas 125 clutch pack in my stock; if anyone is interested. (side note: The clutch push rod for the 125 is only a few dollars. The clutch push rod for the larger bikes is in the $35 range.),,,

Tip

DR650 dismantle. Save $$$

A recent motorcycle tear down to 3rd gear, should have required several "special suzuki" tools, none of which I needed, saving nearly $900. To undo clutch basket centre nut, simply take of drive sprocket and use 24mm socket over drive shaft to hold clutch basket still.

Have a 2006 ktm 250 sxf seized rod to the crank got it changed reinstalled put motor back together now can not even kick it like somthing is stuck. Toke the clutch basket out, timing gear and water pump...

Your clutch basket is the link between the engine and transmission. Your kick starter rotates the clutch basket gear, which turns another gear at the engine crank. Remove either the basket or gear at the crank and see if the engine, and the transmission both turn. Sounds like the engine is stuck for some reason. At least you can cut the issue in half.

Little noise coming from the engine when idling.

Where is the noise from exactly? It sounds like clutch basket rattle, often happens when idling, worse when cold, not so bad as engine warms up. If it's from the top end it's probably tappets. Change the oil if you haven't recently done so and see if that helps. clutch basket is no problem unless it gets REALLY noisy and gearchanges are difficult, then change clutch plates and clean up basket. Tappets or shims will need to be done at next service so performance will be maintained, if it's top end.

Just changed my gear box oil on my aprilia rs 125 2000 model and my clutch is sleeping how do i fix this and how much will it cocst thanks josh

i sure hope you didn't use car oil but bought motorcycle oil. The clutch is a wet-type system that uses engine oil to keep it cool. Motorcycle oil is formulated differently than car oil, which has detergents in it to add lubrication and engine life that will cause a motorcycle's clutch to slip. A new clutch is both inexpensive and easy to replace. When you buy a new clutch, don't forget the clutch cover gasket. i recommend EBC clutches.
1. Set up a little pan with MOTORCYCLE oil in it and place the new clutch discs and pressure plates in it so that they get well-covered with clean oil.
2. Drain the oil, remove the clutch cover and remove the bolts on the cover of the clutch basket.
3. Remove the old clutch parts and make sure you pay attention to what the last part is (disc or pressure plate).
4. Install the new clutch, starting with the last part you removed and alternate between the discs and pressure plates until you run out.
5. Reinstall the clutch basket's cover plate and re-torque the bolts to the specified setting, using a cross-sequence like you would on a wheel.
6. Clean all the old gasket off, install the clutch cove and new gasket and fill up your engine with oil.
7. Ride away happy because you just changed your first clutch!

Hope this helps,
matt

Clutch rattle and notchy gearchange

dear sir the springs in your clutch is what puts pressure on clutch discs. these springs should all be the same length they should be measured with a caliper and compared to specs . the notchy feeling on your clutch is caused by wear spots on your clutch basket. if you are careful they can be filed down just keep them straight this will restore a smooth clutch feel. to check progress slip a clutch disk in the basket all outer dogs of the clutch plate must contact basket at the same time good luck jim

Clutch rattle

no there is not a kit available. I have tried it myself before and used other spec material for the damper in the clutch and made the rivets myself. Worked great but is very timely. I'd actually recommend buying a new basket. The side pedals on the original basket often get grooves from the clutch plates wearing on them which can cause clutch chatter too.
