And I absolutely love it (aside from the broken headlight!) but I was wondering what the deal was with the seeming variations of paint finishes on the Military bikes? Mine and many others that I see have the flat olive drab finish, while there are others that I see with a very glossy finish, and in some cases, pinstripes. What's the deal with the variances -- are the glossy finishes and pinstripes the result of custom modifications? Also -- huge problem while riding. I know she's a brand-new bike (only 25 miles) so there are probably some break-in kinks that need to be ridden out, but this bike dies on me all the time. Unless I'm CONSTANTLY giving the bike throttle, it'll just die. Whenever I go to stop at a stop sign and am in first gear, the moment that throttle is let go, the bike just dies. It seems like I have to constantly pull the throttle on the bike to keep her running, it just does NOT want to idle. Also been noticing some small problems in shifting -- never seems to shift as smooth as other bikes I've been on, and I'm not sure if this is because it's a brand-new bike, or just older technology -- I'm totally new to all of this so I'm really not sure. Any ideas?,The shifting gets smother within 1000 miles, I have 1300 miles and rarely have any false neutrals or as clunky shift problems any more. Like Scotty said give the throttle screw a turn to increase idle( should turn by hand located on the carburetor). I did have a loose carburetor to cylinder head(jug) rubber boot loosen on me and was leaking air making the idle rough on my bike .After I repositioned the boot back on and tighten the clamp at the carburetor I never had the problem return.,,,

F1 light on and red light blinking, wont start

I was at the local race shop in Milton Fl getting new rear tire and the owner of the shop took it for a spin to scuff the tire. When he got back he said he got the F1 code. He plugged a short wire looking thing into a plug under the seat. Took it to code machine and got c-11 code. which is cam position sensor I think he said. but he said he had never seen that error code before. I think the F1 blinking light indicates an error only. You have to have it analyzed with the bike running and code blinking to diagnose the exact issue. Ive got the same bike pictured above and I have been getting error codes pretty much since I bought it brand new in 08. It doesnt seem to affect anything tho, the bike runs normally. Mine usually comes on everytime I start it when its cold. but I can let it run a few seconds then restart it and most of the time the light will not come back on for the rest of my ride. Every now and then it will come on while riding. So I dont know if I'm getting more codes than the C-11 that came up for dude at bike shop or not. I should have taken mine in to have it looked at but never did cuz the bike runs normal as far as i can tell. Annoying as hell though when it comes on at night.

Gas Milage

after a drz. 5000 km had to replace tp switch after a particularly wet ride .(coroded connection) love the bike only beef was the hard seat (now sorted ) and small fuel tank, i will order one from clarkes, only getting 80 km per tank.? Question 1 what do others get ? Question 2 is the original lean map tuneable ie for transport sections.,Yeah I get 80kms per tank in single track. I have a Clark tank coming for it. Keep the electrical connections clean and you will have no worries. Use an electrical grease or Lanotec.. I choose to check and keep them dry regularly. I wouldn't run between both maps personally. I can get over 100km on fire trails with the standard tank. I have a softer seat now. Higher and more cushion.. Although if you go through your dealer they can get you an 08 seat cheaper than retail as there was a deal going on for 07 owners..,,,
