The service schedule says clean the filter it seems to indicate that a new one is not needed for 4 services (9000kms)however for the price of a new one I would always use new. Having said that I thought I would clean the 'old' one just in case I forgot to get a new one or had to drop the oil between services for some reason. I soaked it in petrol, in a screw lid jar for safety, agitated it, then washed it in clean petrol. This is the o.e item, marked 'Steelbird March 2001' I found lots of small fluff balls coming off, and the fabric was coming unstuck from the steel, certainly not fit for use again, imagine those bits clogging the oil ways, disaster! Like I said, I think for the small cost, best to use new every time, I'll order a stock now! Any one know of a replacement element that's better than the one available please? Many tha,I have always wondered about washing the filter. In India pennys count and people crab over a bike that has any amount of oil in it when it comes time to change it. I am afraid that the washing advice is about as dated as this advice.,,,

.500km after service the oil is dirty, almost black. What does this mean? any problem with my car. Please assist.

If it is a diesel then dark engine oil is normal as it is carrying the carbon from combustion in suspension. If it is a petrol engine the black oil is an indication of compression fire getting into sump and burning the oil That may relate to rings , or bore problem. Check the oil that you used as it should be 20w-50 at least for either diesel or petrol. Have a compression test done on either engine to determine engine condition.

The moment we import our cars here in africa they would have been used so we need to remove sludge from the top to the bottom that is the only way you can say you are safe cause engine flush won't clear the dirty inside

Hi there my C55 use every 1500 Km one liter of oil is this normal

Oil consumption is outside specification, and needs around a litre of oil every 7 500km, not unusual for a race-bred engine. But, if you are only getting 1 litre for only 1500, you might want to change brand of oil, or ensure you are using the right type of oil.......

I changed my camry 2004 engine oil and filter and after driving for about 500km the maintenance required light came on. What is the cause please

You need to reset the maintenance reminder manually after you change the oil. You can do this by holding in the trip reset button and turning the key to the run position. keep holding the button down. the odometer should switch to all dashes and then the dashes will start to disapear. once there all gone it has been reset. Sometimes the trip odometer needs to be on a sometimes it needs to be on b. Your owners manual will have further instructions if you need then.

My carr was due for service, i bought wrong oil altogether, we then changed and put GTX CASTROL. After draining the temperatures shoot up ana fans werent working. the fans were connected direct and managed...

Blown head gasket, unfortunately, overheated for too long somewhere along the line. Probably disconnected power wire to fans during oil change. Check oil to see if it's brownish looking. Dead give away for gasket if it is.

Questions 500km service.

in both manuals is 4 to 6mm (1/4). I read this to mean total play NOT 1/4' up +1/4 down for a total of 1/2' play correct? 2 - On the oil filter between the cap nut and the oil filter cover was a copper washer in the oil change kit was an o - ring. The o-ring seems too large it squeezes out from beneath the cap nut using only enough tension to compress the oil filter spring. I reused the copper washer. ( Note: the copper washer for the drain plug was also a little oversized, the large o-ring for the cover itself seems fine. ) Did I order the wrong kit? On the order form it states for Original Bullets made 11/98 & on. I own an '08 cast iron engined Classic. 3 - Can the small copper washers be had anywhere.? Other than these minor items the 500 km service is progressing well !!!!!,Questions 500km service.,,,
