Check the starter. I just had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad commutator brush on the starter motor, it was completely worn out. I had a local shop make up some new ones for $40.

Replaced with a new one. i hit the start button motor will barely turn over. i am lost. its doing the same thing as the old battery which was new last year. sure culd use some input. almost forgot also tried to jump alsojust dose not have enough balls to roll the moter overit tries but no go.what does it sound like when it is turning over? like the starter motor is really straining, or like the starter motor is really slow and lifeless? is the head light bright or dim? could be the engine is siezing up, but I doubt it. if you try to pop-start it (get it rolling on the street in high gear w/ the clutch in, then hop on and release the clutch), does the engine turn over? I'm willing to bet it's somthing simple, like one of the battery leads or leads to the starter is loose or damaged and not enough current is getting through.,,,

Strange starting issue, 97 subaru impreza won't turn over thought I had a bad battery so I replaced it with new freshly charged battery and get a slow turn over try but it gives me the dead battery

Dirty contacts to the battery.

Bad grounds, battery to body.

Bad ground on Starter Motor.

Loose Live terminal on the Starter.

Check with a multimeter. The key is voltages and amperage being in the right place. I would also test the new battery for voltage and amps. What happens if you connect jump leads from the battery direct to the starter?

Hi,i have a Z1000 and when I turn the ignition key the digital display starts up then after a few seconds cuts out again.

the battery will be under warranty ( 2months old )
take it in for a load test to determine it it is the battery
could be a bad ground point or wiring problem

remove battery and tray and inspect harness, connectors, gnds, etc. You may have a sulfuric acid issue.

My laptop won't turn on. I tried taking out the battery, a different battery, a differnet power cord. It won't turn on. Is there a way to reset it?

Are there any lights or indications on the battery itself that might tell you if the battery is good? I had a laptop with a similar problem and it turned out to be both a bad battery and a bad "power brick". replacing both fixed my issues. Also, try holding the power cable at the point where it connects to the laptop and push to the left or right. A friend's laptop would only start if you held the power cable to the left. Otherwise, it sounds like a mother board issue. Sorry.

I just buought a 98 Volvo S70 T5, the car sat for abit, to the point were It had to jump it. to start. ran great for the next 2 hours off and on mybe 7 diffrent starts but it never running for more then...

It could be a number of things:
  • Bad connection or corrosion on battery cables
  • Dead cell in the battery would prevent it from charging fully
  • Bad or worn drive belt would slip, preventing the alternator from fully charging the battery
  • Bad alternator
If the car will run at idle with all accessories turned on, the alternator is good and you should concentrate on the battery and battery cables. If the car won't idle, then the drive belt and/or alternator could be the issue. If the car starts everytime when it's cold and only gives you a problem starting when the engine is hot, the starter could be the issue. A bad starter will often work when it's cold (after sitting a few hours or overnight). When a bad starter gets hot, it takes more and more power to get it to turn over.
Overall, I'd have the electrical system checked out. Most chain auto parts stores (Autozone, Advance Auto) will do a complimentary electrical test for you.

Engine wont start after charging, will start with a jump. The pto will not engage

Sounds to me like you need to scrape the **** off of the battery cable ends and the battery posts,or you just have a battery that has sulfated and will not take a charge.Repairing the connections or installing a new battery should fix the starting problem and because the pto is engaged with electricity it should fix that too.

Brake light, battery light, antilock brake light coming on

this issue sounds like a grounding issue, teh main clue being everything gets dimmer. sometimes an additional ground is a faster repair than finding and resolving under dash issues.

This issue will likely NOT be battery or alternator.

Love the right rear tire clue, and it should not be related..

Hard to start 00' triumph 955i

I'll assume you did not mess with the fuel line, the bike is not in need of tuning and the battery is charged. Issue may be something else if the above is not true.

On my 2000 Speed Triple my headlight relay went bad. It left the headlights on when starting. The headlights are suppose to switch off so the startor could get more juice out of the battery when starting the bike.

Slow turn over

If the alternator was bad the battery would run down and be dead in a very sort time, this may be a combination of a battery on it's way out and or a starter issue, when starters start to act up they do so more hot than cold, have the battery and charging system tested by any of the chain auto parts stores like Kragen, it is free, if that checks ok replace the starter, also make sure the cables are clean and tight, they also can be an issue.
