Question about 2001 Ducati Monster 750 - Dark - City - Dark city

Ease Clutch Pull

I have a 2000 Monster Dark 750 and was wondering if I could get some advice. I was in a work related accident about 10 years ago and lost the middle finger on my left hand. I bought my Monster new and right away added heavier springs to the clutch. Riding has been fine but I find lately that pulling in the clutch has become more difficult. Arthritis is starting to set into my left hand. I can imagine you know where this is going but besides putting the original springs back in what can I do to help ease the pull on my clutch lever. My reach is starting to get limited but if there are any suggestions I am game for any advice. I would like to keep riding and don't want to go a clutchless bike quite yet.

STM Clutch Slave Cylinder: 30mm - will make the clutch pull easier and CRG Roll-A-Click Brake/Clutch Lever: Brembo - will give a more comfortable distance for you.

I have a 2000 duc monster. I'm having a vapor lock issue, gas boiling, backfiring, acting like it's exhausted of fuel etc...I live in bfe Texas, I'm an alright mechanic but I need help on how...

Hi, Docwahn2 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel boiling in fuel line due to extremely high outside temperatures and unprotected fuel lines missing convoluted tubing cover routed too close to cylinders and or heads.
2. The gas cap is not venting properly.
3. Fuel tank vent line blocked, plugged, kinked, or smashed.

My Ducati 750 Monster Battery is Dead. What kind ...

A smaller car 12v 4 or 5 amps charger will do the job, the slower the battery is charged the better, so use the lower setting if available.
charge it out of the bike, this way you can check the water level, and if it overflows it wont spray acid over your engine and frame.
If it doesnt start the bike after a charge, get a new battery, as running a sad battery can overload the charging electrics. and dont jump start it of a car battery that will accept more amps than the bike can produce

Ducati 750 Monster - running problems

Try having the valve clearances checked and adjusted. As the engine gets hot, the clearances tend to close up and the engine begins to lose compression making it hard to keep running. Hope this helps!

Tough start

I pull in the clutch and when I put it in first gear it either jumps forward and stalls or wants to move forward but doesn't quite stall. After the bike warms up the problem goes away. I am pretty familiar with clutches in cars and in general (I'm a mechanic) but I just want some opinions. Could it be air in the system that takes a warm up cycle to go away? Or is this a common problem with Monsters? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! The clutch slave can be difficult to bleed. It sounds like you have air in there. I'd bleed it and zip tie the lever to the grip overnight. That will allow air to return to the master. Another issue could be sticky plates in the clutch pack. Does the bike get ridden infrequently?,,,

Clutch

I've got a 98 Monster 750. I just replaced the Slave Cylinder with an aftermarket Moto Wheels Slave Cylinder and now the clutch wont engage. I've bled the system and the Clutch Lever seems to have appropriate resistance. However the clutch won't engage. It has a very weak feeling of pulling when it's in gear but throttle input does not affect it. Thanks to anyone and everyone that can help.Have you checked with MotoWheels about their unit? They'd know it best, and could hopefully shed some light on it. What kind of bleeder did you use? I've had the best luck with a MightyVac set up, where you draw the fluid out from the bleed screw, rather than pump the lever.,,,
