998 cutting out at 9000rpm

My 998 is cutting out at around 9000 rpm. I'm pretty sure had it up to at least 10000 rpm when I first got it

So I don't think it should be the rev limiter at 9k. It's not bouncing like a rev limiter it just stops firing the cylinders and the comes back again when the throttle is released. It has the stock 996r ECU. Since I got it I've fitted a smaller battery to make room for frame sliders. Could this cause the bike to cut out earlier? It cuts out then runs fine again. The other things I can think of is fuel delivery. But I'm not sure the symptom is correct for that? Any thoughts would be appreciated. In any case I'll put the stock battery back on to see if that helps, but I wont know the answer until next Friday when I'm going to the track,I recently had a problem with one of my Guzzis acting like that at 6k RPM. Always at 6k RPM, but only under load. Ended up being a restricted air intake. Really strange, because it acted just like a rev-limiter. So, does it only act this way under load, or also if you just rev the bike in neutral? If it's a limiter problem or tach error, it should still have the problem even with no load. If the problem is only under load, then it's either a fuel or air problem.,,,

Which ignition can I fit to my 3120xp 2012 Husqvarna that is unlimited?

I am running the ignition unit from the old Husqvarna 444 part no. 501681501 not sure if this is still available, its much easier to mod the K1260 ( power cutter ) this you can use the 372XP unit, it is possible to fit the unit from the 254XP but this involves drilling an extra hole in the units core, does your machine have two screws holding the unit or three? they may have started useing the crankcase from the power cutter on the later 3120. With a non governed unit you will hit a lot more than 12500, the carb has a fixed main jet, you may have to change this or open out the original

I am about to pull out the armature and there is a shield under the cooling fan (which is conected to the armature) that should slide out with the armature. It is real tight and I do not want to pry to...

Yes it should pull out with the armature. The plate can only be removed after you remove the nut and gear on the end of the armature. Make sure your brushes are pulled out first or they can hang up on the bearing at the other end of the armature which may be what is happening in your case.

How do you remove and release the quick grinder pad?

There is a button at the front of the grinder usually black or red, depress it lightly and rotate the wheel (unplug grinder please) wait until you feel it fall into spot, depress tightly and hold then turn wheel and unscrew to replace pad. Reverse to reassemble.Good Luck....

I own a metabo 9-125 quick but can't don't know how to place the blade

On the silver part on top of the grinder is a button , press this button and hold it down. now turn the blade until it stops moving, this locks the blade, keep holding the button down and turn grinder over ,and turn the nut counter clockwise, and remove it , take old blade off ,put on new one .it should go over the shaft and at the bottom on a "fit" Make sure it is on the "fit". replace the nut and tighten. If you dont get the nut tight enough it will loosen while in use and the disc you are cutting/grinding with will wobble and may even come off causing possible injury .

Digitizer 2000 - Dongle ?

I'm going to assume that you mean the Digitizer 2000 software.

Unfortunately, your best bet will be to either wait and see if another copy (complete with dongle) shows up on eBay or upgrade to the Digitizer 10000 version (while Customizer 10000 is NOT compatible with the MC9000, Digitizer 10000 IS), either via your local dealer or snagging it on eBay.

Right now, there's two auctions on eBay for the Dig 10000. It seems to run roughly around $300-400.

Best of luck to you!

998 info

I looking to purchase a 998? 1.What is the + & - of this model? 2.Is the 998 a better bike than the 996? 3.What was the production year of the 998 2002 – 2003? 4.Does the 998S have the same engine as a regular 998? 5.What is some of the best mods to do to this bike?1.Its the first generation of the testastretta motor which is a major improvement on the older 4v design. Its a fantastic bike I'd shoot for a later S model, with Ohlins suspension and adjustable steering dampener. In those days, those components worked better. 2. The 996 is not a bike I'd recommend. They had several issues; from mid range hang-ups because of the dual injection, to the notorious flaking rocker syndrome. I'd stay away... the 998 is the right way to go. 3. 2002 - 2004 actually. The best of the 998's was the 2004 FE edition, with a number plate on the triple. If I were to spend any money, thats where I'd go. There is also a limited production 2002 model year ONLY 998R, which is pretty awesome and has carbon fiber everywhere. 4. In the US, the motors are all the same. In europe, the S model had a deep-sump motor, which put out more power. 5. If your riding around town, most guys get bar risers, better seats and of course, rear sets. If you plan on tracking the bike, heh... you're in for a list that will make your eyes bleed. They are great bikes, I truly wish they were cheaper because I'd own one! Just remember, mileage doesn't really mean very much with Ducati's. The big deal is year. The newer it is, the better off you'll be!,,,
