Other than to say he couldn't adjust it because one or the other would be off. Does this make sense? If so it appears Ducati doens't sell the the linkage separately only the complete throttle body assemby with a price tag of $2300 (up here). I did find a 2004 999s throttle body assembly on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DUCAT...3286.m20.l1116 Looks a little different from mine, but I thought the 999 and 998 are supposed to be the same motor. Can anyone tell me with 100% confidence that it will fit an function without significant modification? Or at least if the throttle linkage can be transplanted?,The linkages are different between a 998 and a 999. From what I can remember you can make them fit but with a hell of a lot of mods..... people who have done it may help. Also check out Gotham Cycle breakers in Florida, he had a write up between what models can be transplanted. (Dont have the link sorry) The linkage is worn????? Can you post a picture to show which part he thinks is worn please? By how much will they not sink? Is this on vacuum check or on CO check of each cylinder? Has he done a TPS reset on the setup? Does this guy have a DDS unit? (Basically a hand held computer to check the brains of the bike) Is this being tested with new spark plugs fitted?,,,

Fuel leaking out of 2 hoses connected to the carb cant stop the fuel leak

Inspect the fuel inlet hose closely. If you notice a wet spot around the hose where it joins the carburetor fitting, or the hose has become swollen, soft, brittle or hard, replace the fuel hose and the small fuel filter inside the carburetor fitting. Install a new worm clamp to tighten the new fuel hose to the fitting. Use a Phillips screwdriver.

Check for a fuel leak around the accelerator-pump cover assembly. Some carburetor models come equipped with a diaphragm-accelerator pump on the side of the unit. If the cover screws have come loose, fuel will leak through the diaphragm and external cover. Look for a square cover on the side of the carburetor and tighten the cover mounting screws at each corner with a Phillips screwdriver.

Look around the gasket located between the carburetor upper body and the main, or lower body. This gasket may have worn out or the carburetor upper body mounting screws may have become loose, allowing fuel to leak outside the carburetor.

Ensure the upper body mounting screws are tight, if you found a leak. If they are tight, remove the clip holding the throttle linkage to the carburetor with a pair of needle-nose pliers and reposition the linkage to the side. The linkage allows the driver to operate the throttle plates in the carburetor through a cable when depressing the accelerator pedal. Unfasten the screws holding the carburetor upper body from the main body with a ratchet, short ratchet extension and socket. Remove the old gasket and install a new one.

Inspect around the bottom of the carburetor where it joins the intake manifold if no leaks were found around the gasket located between the carburetor upper body and the main, or lower body. If you find a wet spots or marks around the bottom of the carburetor, the base plate gasket is leaking. Remove the upper and main carburetor body using a ratchet, short ratchet extension and socket. Install a new base gasket and replace the carburetor assembly.

Can't tune throttle bodies on 2008 triumph america

there is an easy way to do this,,,take off the throttle bodies,,,
place a lenth of thin strate whire into both throttel bodies and gentely close the throttles on this whire,,, the butter flys should just tuch very gentely both bits of whire if not adjust the butter flyes till both bits of whire fall out under there own weight,,,and then its bingo,,, job done!!!
you will still need to balance the air intake on the trottel bodies
so set the tick over up right,,, then holding the reves at say 2000rpm set the air intake bypass air up on the throttel bodies,,,recheck that at tick over again,,,,, i hope you under stand what iv told you to do,,it works ok,
good luck,, was this any help to you?

Hi,i have a mito 125,2000.it vibrates a lot.have you any idea how to stop this or not b as bad.cheers paul

if you have make modifications, like changing the bar ends, that could be one of the more typical reasons.

other could be a bad rotor, other could be a tire that needs balance, other could be that your throttle bodies need to be synchronized (not only carburated bikes have throttle bodies)

Lately any time I stop the eng dies, unless I keep it above 1000rpms. It's becoming very dangerous to ride. Not every time but most of the time.Gas cap vent does not effect it.I have 45.000 on it. this is...

hi,i am not overly familiar with these but it sounds very much to me like a carb problem.and very likely a carb balance problem(if the bike has carbs),the problem being that as the linkages and internal parts of the carb wears the carbs will be getting an imbalanced fuel and air load, its takes very little for the carbs to go out of sync, but when they do it will cause erratic running particularly at idle,or when as is your case coming down off the throttle to an idle, there will be isufficent mixture or fuel in the system to let the bike keep running, carb imbalance normally affects the slow speed circuit in the carbs more noticeably because of the low rpm,not so noticeable at high rpm as the carbs are getting plenty of fuel.If the bike is injected then it maybe that the butterflys in the throttle bodies have suffered the same fate, the linkages may have worn slightly allowing an imbalance to occur,or if injected(again)the fuel injection may need remapping,.road conditions are very hard to replicate in a workshop environment and your problem seems to go away once the mechanic touches the bike(its almost like the bike knows it is at the doctors),i would put my guess on the carbs being out of sync, get the dealer to put a set of gauges on it and see what happens, the adjustment only has to be out by 1/64 of a turn to be wrong...hope this helps..let me know how you get on...cheers..ian

My engine idle has been lowered due to it over revving when i put it back on the rad yesterday/. The garage told me the throttle bodies are knackered and need replacing they quoted £1500, any advice...

hi,i would be mighty surprised to find that the throttle bodies are knackered on such a new bike, the idle is set to low if it cuts out at low speed,i would be taking the bike to a reputable yamaha dealer and have the fuel system remapped before i started tearing throttle bodies apart, this is not expensive and if their is a fault then the dealers diagnostic system will pin point it exactly, these bikes go like stink and are normally very reliable and troube free, hope this helps...cheers

Surging

Could be throttle bodys need synching, first adjust your TPS
(throttle position sensor)as per factory instructions. It will show you how to in a haynes manual. If the problem still persists,it will need throttle bodys synching. Its just like carb balancing on older bikes.they do run out as milage increases, its no major problem.

Leaking injector

the throttle body on the right side underneath is a spring and shaft.. well its gone all bronzie looking which tells me its been leaking for a while however now theres fuel drops on it and its stained the casings were it drips off to. So whats this mean? is there a seal in there that lets go or is something rooted?,If you're bike is under warrantee, take it to the dealer! Otherwise first step to me clean the area so you can examine the components, check throttle body balance and TPS and look for any signs of a bad balance situation (one pipe more discolored than the other, etc.). If the basics check out then put in some gas (i.e. not diesel) Fuel injector cleaner and a tankfull of good gas combined with a long ride at speed. Next I would change my air and fuel filters, drain the tank through a coffee filter, checking for resedue and repeating the process of FI cleaner, good gas, and a long ride.,,,

Throttle bodies linkage worn

after having the valves done and belts replaced that my Throttle bodies can't be sync'd because of worn linkage see pic. I have looked around and haven't read of this happening often. Sounds like a rare problem. Anyone know of this happening? I can get the linkage rod but where it connects to the butterfly valve is worn or so im told , i get the bike back today and will check it out. If the linkage is stuffed i am thinking 2nd hand Throttle bodies as an option but am not sure about the interchangeability of the 916 748 996 bodies ,the 2nd hand bodies around are mostly 748 916 . Can these be used or am i waiting for a set of 996?,If he can't sync it because the linkage is worn - you need a new tech Ask him, og diy - use only one idle screw - on the TB's where the cable is attached. On the other TB - just remove the screw, and you will be fine After this - the spring will eliminate the slak on the linkage. Sync is a bit different - both airscrews in same position, and adjust the lenght on the linkage to your TB are in sync.,,,
