ECU and harness for pretty much the same price. I'm curious to know if that engine will fit in the chassis. The different shape of the heads fitting in the frame under the airbox and the throttle bodies to airbox. From my understanding the engine mounting should be the same.It will not fit but not because of the enginemounting points, it´s because of the frame. You need a 748R or 998/996R frame to make the Testa engine fit. The problem is the cross-brace framing just behind the airbox. It´s going to be in the way. In the raceteam I´m apart off, we did a 999s engine transplant into our 748R frame and it was easy enough. We did in in a couple of days work, including using the new TB´s and building our own airbox that uses the 999 bottom part and a 748R upperpart. ,,,

Thats going to be a tricky pull. you can actually do BOTH methods fro pulling that motor. Which ever is easier for you would be better.

As far as the rod knock. Rod knock simply means that the rod bearing has spun and is no longer a smooth surface. potentially, you could pull the motor and replace just that rod and bearing if the crankshaft was unaffected. the majority of the time, more work needs to be done. I think in this case, it may be cheaper to remove the motor and replace the crank and bearings. A replacement used motor will probably run about 1k if you can find one at a yard.

Hi, Akerr755 you have a dead short which is usually the easiest to find. Using a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder, start probing the wire leaving the fuse holder about an inch away the test light should illuminate, keep probing towards the ignition switch until the test light no longer illuminates you are now very close to the short. To change the outer main bearing on a t30 - 23405l do you have to take everything apart including taking off the jugs?

Let me give you some info. I guess you are talking about the bearing next to the fly wheel. The crankshaft has to come completely out. the crank can not be removed until you have removed the rods from the crank shaft pin. Most of the time if a bearing goes bad you need to replace the rods and crank shaft pin. I 've never done it but if you can get the rods out of the way the crank will come out. My recommendation would be, remove the fly wheel, remove the inner cooler, remove any small tubing lines, Remove the front frame cover, Remove the 2 bolts holding the crank pin bushing (don't forget to lock wire these bolts back together during assembly), Remove the cylinder, head, piston and rod together as a unit. Don't let the piston come out of the cylinder or move around to much unless replacing the rods. Once you get both LP and HP cylinders, heads etc off you can remove the front bearing cap exposing the bearing and a snap ring. Take a piece of wood or brass and from the crank shaft counter weight side (rod side)knock the crank shaft toward the fly wheel side until the snap ring can be removed. Once the snap ring is removed knock the crankshaft back toward the rod side and continue until out of the bearing races. Then remove the crank. The outer bearing can then be pressed off with the retainer at one time. Remove the sleeve. To remove the large bearing(back bearing) you need to be very careful and cut it off. Don't mess up the crank shaft. I've tried several ways to remove the back bearing but the easiest is cutting it off. To answer your question yes you have to disassemble to change bearings.

I'm checking valve clearances on a 2001 st4 and need to know the valve clearance gaps. Do the clearances vary from the left to right hand side?

Yes, you have 4 valves per side, 2 are intake, 2 exhaust. On the intake, the opener is .002-.007, and the closer .006-.010 , The exhaust, opener is, .002-.009 and the closer is ,.004- .008. If you are planning on doing this yourself, you need to do your math and get the right shims, Ducati will sell you the shims you need, but there are other people out there making them. When measuring the clearance, you need to turn the engine over by hand, pull the plugs, pull the cover off the left side to get to the crank bolt, get a friend to crank the engine over while you runs shims in and out of the rockers, keep notes on your measurements.

Speedometer Not Working

the speedometer isn't working now. When i removed the tire i noticed the tabs in the rim but all i did was put the round speedo part in.Either you didn't get the notches set correctly or the 'rod' inside the cable isn't seated right. Or the rod broke like mine just did, and will need replacement.,,,
