1993 750SS with blown engine

I was riding home from work one night when my 1993 SS lost oil pressure and came to a stop. I was able to keep it upright dispite the shot of oil that ended up on my rear tire. Anyway

After I had a chance to look at the motor I noticed a hole about the size of my thumb tip behind the starter motor and knew that that was the culpret. Is it worth looking for a new motor and if yes what are my options get the motor repaired or start parting the bike out and look for another one?,I´d say repair it. They are the same motors as the 750monsters although I think cams may be different. a 900 motor should go in just fine as well. The 750s are quite rare (I´m finishing mine and there are less than you´d think...) It´s a bike totally worth throwing a new engine in.,,,

Have oil comeing out of a line that is not hooked up to anything

If you look directly behind the oil pump, you'll see a line of three holes where hoses run to the engine on your Shovelhead. The top hose just above and behind the pump is the breather hose for the primary and oil tank. The next one down is the return hose for the oil that collects in the pirmary to be sucked back into the engine by crankcase vacuum. The lowest hose, and probably the one you are talking about is the crankcase vent hose.

This hose vents the crankcase pressure out of the engine. When the bike is allowed to sit for an extended period of time, oil seeps past the check ball in the oil pump and goes into the engine. This is because the oil tank is higher in the frame than the engine and the ball cannot make a complete seal. Now, the oil builds up in the engine cases. When the engine is started, the scavenger side of the oil pump cannot pump all the oil out of the cases fast enough and it's blown out of the crankcase vent. I've seen as much as a quart of oil pumped out of the cases before it stops. We call this condition "oil sumping".

Put a pan or something under the engine when you start it up. After running the engine for a while, the oil should stop. It makes a terrrible mess though. If the oil does not stop after about ten minutes of running or you get more than a quart of oil out of the vent hose, you may have a problem with your oil pump.

The best way to prevent this is to ride or at least start the engine up at least once a week. You can try reseating the check ball in the pump. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Let me know if you need any more information.

Nightrod stops firing a few seconds after starting

Probably fuel system has trash in it, The oil light comes on after engine dies would be right as the ignition is still on and no oil pressure.Fuel stabilizer may have caused trash to break free and stop up the system. Also vacuume to fuel shutoff could be off or stopped up too.

06/07 GSXR 750 sulfur smell and knocking bottom of motor slight whistle like intake or exhaust and a slight lack of power is it the cam chain tensioner the stock one is supposedly adjusted by oil pressure...

Sounds like you have lost oil pressure. Stop riding it as it will thro a rod and destroy the engine. It probably needs a crank regrind and shells big job.

At higher rpms all engine oil is pushed into the main oil tank on a yfz 450

check your compression on your engine. if you have bad rings or a blown head gasket the cylinder pressures could be forcing the oil out of the engine and in to the tank. Don't ride the bike until you get the problem figured out though . no oil in the engine can cause major damage to the crank, bearings and camshafts which will add hundreds of dollars to repair cost

Could have a blown fuse or a short. i know on my harley, when i first got it, rode that thing every where and nothing was rubber mounted. One night ridding everything went out and glided to a stop. luckily i was close to home. Turns out the battery cable was touching metal and blew a bunch of fuses and melted the cable. hope this helps!

Running rough , oil light came on, then stalled at stop lights.

hi m8,,took a look at this pretty pic u have and thought i add one of these,,see wot the prob is,,hope im not gonna be the bringer of bad news mr, seems to me the oil pump in the sump has seized,,while riding it if it felt tight wen it stopped, then that aint good,, but u can change these with out takin the moter out, drain the oil,, sump off and clutch out, to get to the nuts on the oil pump..just means either u lie on the floor and do it, or be lucky and have a ramp,,although u will have to get some 1 to look at the shells on the crank,, or bearings and hope they havent been damaged,,there wont be damage tho if the oil u have drained out doesnt have iron filings in it, ,cheers m8,,

Where the hell is the oil going?

the oil needed topping up every now and again. Every time Ive been for a ride when I get home I keep the bike upright and check the level in the tube and theres always none in there. For the 3rd time in a row, I have removed the panel, stopped the bike (its just been ridden so still hot) and fill it up to just above the min mark. Yet when I next have been out for a ride and check it again, theres none in the tube again! I dont see it leaking from anywhere, theres no oil in the bellypan or around the engine bottom, and the engine doesnt smoke or anything. Any ideas?,You need to wait about 5-10 mins after you've switched off to check oil i also had this where couldn't see in tube and ended up overfilling the old girl had the oil dropped and refilled with correct ammount and then i could see it in the tube, was as if there was air in pipe or summat stopping reading should be 3.5-3.7 litres i believe ,,,
