Probably just to stop rubbish and water going in ... thats why the air box lid is also under the seat as it would be harder to get rubbish in under there and water too .... in most cases anyway . It also stops oil that has been blown out of the crankcase from dripping out of the air box onto your gleaming engine.

I am doing oil changes on 2007 Dyna Low Rider and do not have book. Need to know location of the engine and transmission drain plug and quantities of oil.

One litre in the primary of Formula+, one liter Formula+ in gearbox, approx. 2.4 litres engine oil HD360 in sump. Look underneath and find sump. Engine oil drain plug is on left side of sump near bottom and back and is in horizontal. Gearbox drain plug is to the right side of sump about half way and points up. Torque is 14 lbs-ft with DRY CLEAN threads. Use new O rings on bung plugs, part #:11105. Warning: very easy to strip these threads.

TE 510 e husqvarna. Has uneven idle, coughs and stalls at low speed, and surges at cruising speed. This bike is well over due for rebuild has done i think about 12000 kms but most of the simptums have only...

Assuming you have good spark, then it would leave fuel or air to be the next logical problem.
Check your air filter and make sure it isn't clogged with dirt. Some filtlers are meant to be coated with either engine oil or filter oil or they are meant to be dry. Find out which of these yours is either dry or wet.
You may have an obstruction in your seat if it has a carb. If so locate the drain bung on the bottom of your carb's float bowl. Unscrew that and let a little bit of fuel run out while lightly tapping the side of the carb. tighten the bung back up again and test bike.
If problem persists take it to a qualified mechanic, or wait until someone with more experience with these bikes gives you a better answer here.

Battery dead need to remove or replace..... first i have to get to it

First remove the seat...then the grab rail...then remove the right seat panel...that's 1 screw under the right rear, 1 under the side of the grab rail, 1 on top under the seat and 1 near the airbox side covers.
Then remove the battery retainer bracket...that's got 1 bolt on the left holding it in, then swing it out and unhook it on the right.
Next remove the rectangular rubber bung in the plastic cover at the rear of the fuel tank under the seat revealing the + terminal of the battery. Disconnect this and the - terminal and the battery slides out.

In front of the rear wheel swing arm. Looks like a rubber pipe with a stopper plug hanging from the oil tank.

How do you fit crash bungs to a zx7r

To be fair it depends on the type of bung, they usually come with a fitting kit that attaches to the frame, but get a good set and a bar will run through the frame from one side to the other, you get what you pay for !
