I was told that I could use Castrol car motor oil in my 1980 Suzuki GS 550L. Is this correct or should I just use regular motorcycle oil?

my mechanic told me the same thing and I've been using castrol straight 30 wieght oil for years and i own a 1989 kawasaki ninja 1000.

20w-50 is recommended
and the clutch is lubed with the engine oil.
to be exact on the oil capacity
2.75 quarts without changin oil filter
2.96 quarts with oil filter changed

What fork oil wieght and cc level amount is needed

i would say 5w or even a 10w oil and 110mm air gap should do the trick

depends on where you loive [weather extemes]
below zero & very hot summers i would use 0/40
average temps 10/40 wieght oil
dont mix brands stay with one always & get a good synthetic oil
no cheap stuff !
as its a good insurance policy for your investment [bike]

Hiya i just done the forkseals on my xr125-2006 , does anybody know the quantity of fork oil to go back in i got oil grade10

dont use 10 wieght its stiff as can be i recomend 7.5 or 5 wieght but a quart in each fork will do.

dear bldrnr the proper oil weight for your bic depends on the climate where you ride 20/50 is recommended for hot climates 10/40 is recommended for average temps. jim
