X1 Rear Brake

Just bought a 2000 X1. Love the bike. The rear brake seems a lot weaker than my old Honda (also as compared to the front brakes)and was wondering if this is normal. I generally use the rear brake to slow down before a light (20-30 mph range) and I need to really press down on the pedal to come to a full stop.May be it is designed like this to prevent lock-up.

If your brake fluid is original you might consider replacing and bleeding the system as well.

As you know, the front and rear brakes are independent of each other ... engaging the front has no impact on the rear and vice versa. Is your disc drilled? When I apply the front brakes on my bike, I can hear the noise generated as the pads pass over the holes in the disc ... could that be what you are hearing?

Before storage last year everything was fine with my 2000 Goldwing. When taking the bike out of storage for the season everything seemed ok until my first ride. I discovered that the rear brake pedal has...

Just bleed the brake system. That will take the air out of the system it is a common problem when you let a goldwing sit.
First bleed the front left brake then bleed the rear brake they both work off the brake pedal.
When you are done with that bleed the front right brake with the hand brake lever,
Get a service manual for your wing it explains how to do many services and it will save you money.

No rear brakes on 1985 honda goldwing aspencade. What could be the problem ?

Check your rear brake resevoir. Fill it with Dot 4 brake fluid and proceed to bleed the brakes, If this does not resore your braking and there is no sign of a leak on the rear caliper, you will have to replace the seals in the master cylinder, or the complete cylinder.

Rear brake light not workiing

There are two brake light switches. One is in the right handlebar switch housing. This is front brake light switch and is a simple push button type switch actuated by the front brake lever.

The other switch is a pressure switch and it is located in a Tee usually somewhere under the bike near the rear of the transmission. Follow the metal tube coming out of the rear of the master cylinder. It will go back towards the rear brake. Somewhere in that line there will be a tee with the pressure switch in it. If you jumper across this switch, the brake light should work. If it does work when you do this but not work when you depress the rear brake signal, replace the rear brake light switch.

Good luck
Steve

On my friends honda cbr 125cc bike, she is complaining of having heavy back brakes, what could the problem be

Brake shoes may need replacement.I would have to look in service manual for more info but many people use the rear brake more than the front to avoid front end washout so rear brakes wear out first.
Could also be the linkage from the rear brake pedal to the drum assembly needs lubing(rare).

Rear brakes don't work on 1996 goldwing

Yes the rear pedal operates the front RH disk as well.
When you bleed the brake do the front RH disk calliper first then the rear calliper.
Check that the pads are not beyond useful life and the not stuck.
