That check engine light comes on and off because THERE IS A PROBLEM. You NEED TO STOP AND CHECK IT. take the bike to a dealer and have them diagnose it. unless you have a copy of ecm spy and the usb access cable your stuck taking it to a dealer. and NO, XB's don't have a check engine light problem.
I had the same problem with my Harley, it ate 3 headlights, at $75 each, I found a short in the high beam switch, and found it by accident, I saw a spark at night when it was dark. Fixed the short, no problem, you might have the same thing going on there, check for a short in the wiring at night. Hope this helps.
that is normal for the head light to dim when starting because the tarter motor drains alot from battery to start and the chances are when you took the head light of you deconnected some wires that need to be connected to run
hope this helps you
It's your stator failing, these bikes are notorious for bad stators. A failing stator means the bike can't produce the electricity it needs to run, and the bike is running on the battery only. Replace the stator and make sure your battery is fully charged and you will be good to go.
500 Miles stay below red line, below 65 mph. 500 miles change oil and filter ck the drain plug for shavings larger than a pin head, ck plugs. ck valves if solid. or if you cammed it up. Ride like normal.
secondand third gear but doesnt happen all the timeDo you think is the clutch?Probably going to need more information to diagnose this one. The Buell makes SO much mechanical noise when running it's hard to tell at times if it's normal or not. If it sounds like a handful of nickels in a blender it's probably OK. The only whirring I've heard in over 20k miles on my Uly is the cooling fan.,,,
