Engine backfires threw the intake then hesitates momenterily, when accelerating from a stop. It seems to be in relation to throttle position. Any solutions?

And has happened when engine braking. The strange part is when the other day I was in 5th gear going 60mph it did it again. It has 2600 miles on it from when I bought it new and and have followed the manufacturers instructions for break in & maintenence to the letter. I have been back to the dealer twice for the same problem and they can't duplicate the problem. Its normal.  Only things I have found that help to cure the problem the easiest way, is to re-route the breather and open up the airbox.,,,

Backfire in airbox

The fuel system(carbs, tank, and petcock) needs to be cleaned out. If you are not familiar with the process, taking it to the dealer or a mechanic is best. I have also written other articles on fixya about cleaning carbs

4 wheeler backfire on start

incorrect air fuel mixture or a leak check for damage to the intake boot or airbox

i need to know more about how its running at low mid and high rpm to help you troubleshoot and you need to check for leaks especiely the intake boot if the intake boot is leaking that will need to be fixed before running the bike asumeing that is ok or fixed run the bike listen to it at idle standing is it surgeing with a good fast acceleration off the line with you siting on the quad ? or just realy rough ticking over with little guts off the line ?

midrange rideing how does it feel is there a bwarrr noise as u accelorate hard or does the engine roar up fast

is it reaching a good top end with good pulling power or poor pulling power

are the backfires constant or mainly whyle slowing down from high revs

if all are effected but there are no leaks then it may be float / fuel level that needs ajustment fuel level in ur float bowel effects all stages of rpm low mid and high

A rich problem gets worse as the engine heats up.

A lean problem gets better as the engine heats up.

hope this helps if u dont fix it your self first try and do them little rpm backfire tests for me itl tell me a lot

I am trying to change the clutch cable on a 07 xb12ss and a piece fell into the crank case. how do i remove the cover so that i can retreive the part this is such a poor design whats the best way to get it...

Not a poor design, if you dropped something down inside of a say Honda - you would be splitting the cases to get it out. On the Harley/buell motor you just loosen all of the allen head bolts and remove them and remove the shifter assembly and pull the inspection cover off. pull the next set of bolts if you want to remove the whole cover.

Your bike is most likely running a little lean on the idle/slow-speed circuit. The jets might need a cleaning, or you've got a slight air leak somewhere. Other possibilities ... - Idle mix screw out of adjustment (Probably not as it's sealed and 'supposed to be' tamper free) - Carbs slightly out of synch

DT 125 X Backfiring??

This may not apply to your bike but a lot of the smaller engine 2strokes can still run but backfire if they have one broken reed valve.

07 Buell 12Ss shaking

not just a vibration but more of a shake at 1500 to 1700 rpm. Is this just life with a Buell or should it be checked out? These bikes are known to shake alot at idle. Check if your tires properly balanced.,,
