Not like it was starving for fuel. The running lights and engine lights were on still so i was not without total power. i did get it restarted and brought it home. A few weeks ago when i went to start it i had no power. i thought it was battery but it made no sense. i jiggled some wires and then i got to start. i woudl think it is an electrical short not a battery issue but i need help. ???? where do i look?I doubt its a short. That would most likely cause something to burn up or a fuse to blow. It may be a poor connection. Often times when you have this type of problem it can be traced to a poor ground although it is entirely possible for some other connection to become intermitant. Bikes are subjected to plenty of vibration. If you recall just where you wriggled the wires to get it to work start looking for it there.,,,

Instrument Dashboard went dead but bike continued to run.

I would never think a bike was smart enough to shut down unneeded accessories like that but then again I haven't been around many newer ones much. I would just charge it ride it and see if it happens again. if you get done riding and the battery reads low again that should answer your question

I have a 883 harley davidson sporster, was riding the bike and road over a bump and bike shut down and won't start

I'd check the battery first. I've seen the post break loose from the batteries in many Sportsters and leave them dead on the road. I've only seen this happen once on a Big Twin. Why? I have no idea. If nothing on the bike works, this may be the problem. If everything else works but it just won't start, I need more information. Does the starter engage and the engine turn over?

I have a 99 road king with a 95 CI new engine. Yesterday after riding for about 80 miles, the bike stopped running. I left from a signal, shifted into 2nd and the engine backfired and shut off. After...

It sounds like a fuel flow restriction somewhere. Sure, it'll start every time and idle for a while but take it down the road a bit. If it quits, I'd suspect that for some reason it's not getting fuel to the engine from the tank. Loosen the fuel cap, the cap vent may be bad. The vented cap the right side tank cap. If it's fuel injected, it could be the fuel pump or something. It sounds like a fuel problem to me.

My first time on a road king. do i need the key to turn on the ignition? Is the key just for the steering?

The key is used for 'Locking" and "Unlocking" the ignition lock. As long as the lock is unlocked, you don't need the key to ride the bike. But, neither does anyone else. When you walk away from your bike, anyone can jump on it, turn the switch on and ride off on it. That's why us old timers used to have the manually operated petcocks on our bikes. We'd turn the gas off. Most crooks wouldn't think to check to see if the gas was turn on. If they tried to steal your bike, they'd get just about out in the road and the bike would shut down due to no gas in the carb.

Bike will not start or stay running on a full charge battery/bought brand new battery, still same promblem, jump bike off, will crank ,ride bike for 30 min. park bike, leave bike running, lights start's to...

sounds like the problem is your battery is not charging when you are riding. The most common cause is a faulty regulator / rectifier. Contact a motorcycle wreckers for these parts, or your yamaha dealer.
Easy way to test is, when your bike is running, and the lights start to dim, before the bike shuts down, using a volt meter, test the voltage at the battery terminals, should be about 14V. If faulty rectifier,no charge going in to your battery, then the reading will be low, about only a few volts. If you dont have a volt meter, then any mechanic shop can do this test for you. best to have this done before buying any parts.

How to retrieve fault codes on tnt cafe racer

Hi, Service267 for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. JUST PUT GAS IN BIKE,RIDE FOR 2 MILES.THEN BIKE SHUTS DOWN.THEN WAIT 10 MINS OR SO BIKE CRANKS UP AND RIDE FOR 1 MILE AND SHUTS DOWN AGAIN.DO YOU THINK ,I GOT BAD FUEL? OR THE FUEL FILTER IS DIRTY PLEASE...

Could be the fuel filter but I'd bet money on the fuel tank vent. Loosen your fuel cap and take a ride. Don't take the cap off, just loosen it a bit. If that cures the problem, buy a new fuel cap.
