New battery in itturning over nicely after chasing down a few bad grounds but have very weak spark.I had cam2 in it even and couldnt get it to fire.I suspect coils or possiblly grounds still .Question iswhere can I get these electrical parts for the bike?(dont all answer at once now...)I think I need pickups for the bike as well but am going from memory on that one.ThanksHave you tried changing the ground from the coils to go straight to the frame and NOT through the sidestand cutout? I don't trust that little fella. I've rewired mine so it kills the satrter motor instead - can't start the bike with the sidestand down - and as I never get off the bike leave the engine running with the sidestand it's not a problem. It does mean though that if the switch gives problems (i.e. in the wet) it does not kill the engine.,,,

Got spark but seems like no fuel is getting to the carberator

Check fuel system--full fuel tank--check petcock operation--make sure carbs have fuel in them--open and close drains on bottom of carbs If bike has been sitting for a while --carbs may need to be removed and cleaned if you spill fuel be very careful and clean up and vent well before continuing

Benelli 900 sei

Dear Sir. The engine oil flows through the starter clutch which acts as a centrfugal oil filter. Sludge builds up and causes the starter clutch to slip.

It is possible to replace the Benelli 900 starter clutch without having to remove the engine.
It requires removing the clutch, then the side casing and gears. The sump needs to be removed...middle exhauster header pipes first. The lh engine cover and oil pump also needs to be removed. The primary drive shaft can then be removed from the RHS of the engine. the primary drive chain and satrer clutch assembly will now drop enough to enable the removal of the sprocket from the starter clutch (it is a bit tight and then the rest of the starter clutch will come out of the chain. Be aware that the oil pump drive connector is on the end of the primary drive shaft and care needs to be exercised. This is possible if due caution and care is taken. Assembly id basically reverse of above. Happy fixing.

Oil type

10W-40 15W-40 etc As I am unable to tell how long the existing oil has been in the bike should a flushing oil be used befor changing the oil? Any help/suggestions/advice would be appreciated. Regards, ,according to 900 Sei WORKSHOP MANUAL Additions and changes to the workshop manual for 500 Quattro-750 Sei whose print date appears to be 2-80, AGIP SINT 2000 SAE 10 W 50 oil is to be used for the engine. I drained the oil and changed the filter on my 1979 750 with 380 miles on it last May. I bought the bike new but haven't used it since 1993. The oil and filter were again changed after 12 miles. regards,,,

Carb removal

800Kms on the clock ( It still has the original tyres ). It has never been registered and the Kms were largely done with trade plates from a South Australian bike shop in the 70's before being relegated to the back of the store. The person I bought it from had it 9 years and did little with it. I am not restoring but trying to fix the things needed to get it right and as close to original as possible.I need to remove the carbs to clean them properly. I am not sure which way the come out. It seems like I will ruin the old connection rubbers if I keep going the way that I am. What is the go? Also did this model have metal spark plug caps and is there anyone out there with the original fuel hose set up for sale? RegardsI have to say getting the carbs out on the 900 is a bit of a pig. The rubbers tend to go hard too. Not sure if this is exactly the same as on the 750 but what you can do is take out the battery disconnect the bits from the battery try and remove that, take out the air filter and its rubbers and then you have room to get the carbs back. Alternatively, if you want to get them off without taking the air box out, remove the rubbers between the air box and carbs first - try and wriggle them back into the air box - you can rescue them later from the other side (take the air filter out). This should give you enough room too. Hope that helps!,,,

Fork oil

but does anyone have experience of adding a firmer fork oil to the 900 Sei? Road tests I've read suggest that it may improve handling and hard braking particularly in reducing rear wheel chatter when throwing out all the anchorsThe 900 Sei uses damper insert cartridges in the top of the fork leg. The oil is ONLY for lubrication of the fork and tube. All the damping work is done by the cartridge therefore changing the oil will have no effect. The only thing you can do is change / upgrade the damper units. When I rebuilt my bike I used some air assisted ones by FAC. I'll have to look up the details for you, but mine are up for replacement now too so this is quite a current topic for me too,,,
