But does anyone have experience of adding a firmer fork oil to the 900 Sei? Road tests I've read suggest that it may improve handling and hard braking particularly in reducing rear wheel chatter when throwing out all the anchorsThe 900 Sei uses damper insert cartridges in the top of the fork leg. The oil is ONLY for lubrication of the fork and tube. All the damping work is done by the cartridge therefore changing the oil will have no effect. The only thing you can do is change / upgrade the damper units. When I rebuilt my bike I used some air assisted ones by FAC. I'll have to look up the details for you, but mine are up for replacement now too so this is quite a current topic for me too,,,

2007 Harley Davidson FXSTB. Changing fork oil and have misplaced my manual. How much fork oil do I put in the tubes after all drained ? Appreciate your help!

I'm sorry but I don't have that information on the newer bikes. I specialize in the older bikes that the dealers will no long work on. You can call the service department of any local dealer and they should tell you how much oil goes in it. Ask for the "wet" quantity. This is the amount of oil you add when you simply drain and refill the fork tubes. If you disassemble the fork tubes, you need to add the "dry" quantity of oil.

Good Luck

In changing 2005 Harley Heritage Model FLSTCI fork oil, how many ounces of fork oil should I use? What does wet or dry mean?

I'm sorry but I don't have the specs on the quantity and type of fork oil for your year and model bike. I work on the older bikes that the dealers will no longer service. But, I can describe the difference between the "wet" and "dry" conditions of the fork assembly. If you take the front forks apart, clean them out, and put them back together with no oil in them, they are considered "dry". For a simple drain and refill type oil change on them where you don't get all the oil out of them, they are considered "wet". I hope this helps, You can call you local dealer's service department and they should tell you the quantity and viscosity of the oil that goes in the front forks on your machine. They'll tell you something like 6 ounces of "Type E" oil, for example. Harley-Davidson uses these types of specs to describe their oils. If you go to a website for fork oil, like PJ1, they may give a cross reference or equivalency chart for converting H-D "Type E" to their oil. I think that would be their 30 weight oil. If the front end seems too "stiff" with 30 weight, you can drop down to 20 weight. I think Honda makes a 25 weight but not sure. Your Harley won't mind the Honda oil. BG.

Good Luck
Steve

The front forks go down to far on my fxst 2004 nightrain

If you are saying that your front suspension is too soft, you can change the fork oil in the front forks to a heavier viscosity. I think Harley recommends Type E fork oil. I've found that PJB 30 wt. fork oil works best for me.

Since I'm not familiar with the newer forks, I'll have to recommend that you ask the dealer how to drain and refill the forks and how much oil to put back in them. There are usually two amounts of oil to put in the forks. One amount is a "dry" amount to add when you disassemble the forks and then refill them. The "wet" amount is for when you simply drain the forks and then refill them. Naturally, the "wet" amount will be less than the "dry" amount.

Sorry I couldn't give you more information but my expertise is the earlier model Harley bikes.

Good Luck
Steve

Can you tell me the fork oil weight for gsx 1400 ltd ed. thank you.

It depends on what type of ride you want,,,i prefer 10weight and just a tad of air in the forks! Be careful when using a gas station air hose, you could blow a seal...just give a little quick burst till you see the forks raise up a little .you can use transmission fluid if you like also, it"ll work just as good.
