Maintenance-free battery for my 1976 Benelli 750 SEI but the suppliers I've contacted have no record of what model battery it takes. All the shop manual says is a 12 Volt 14 Amp Hour battery. Anyone know of an equivalent battery of the right size that will fit say from a Honda CB750 or CB500 maybe? Thanks! ,What you need is an AGM 20 Amp Hour battery to fit a BMW Boxer or K series. What type of VRLA battery is used as OEM, AGM or gel?

Hi Cecil, after careful deliberation 4 out 5 Yamaha Gods give this one a thumbs up for AGM, but just to be on the safe side you should give your local dealers parts/service department a call to confirm. Good luck and have a nice day.

Start by checking the battery. For a wet (lead acid) battery:

VOLTAGE (OCV) STATE OF CHARGE
12.8 100%
12.6 75%
12.3 50%
12.0 25%
11.8 0%

For an AGM battery:

VOLTAGE (OCV) STATE OF CHARGE of AGM Battery
12.7 V 100%
12.6 V 75%
12.3 V 50%
12.0 V 25%
11.8 V 0%

So all batteries are pretty much the same.

Then after seeing what surface voltage you have an recharging if low, the next step would be to get a load test done on the battery and clean and tighten the battery cable attachments at both ends of the cables. If it is not a problem here the next step would be to diagnose the starter and the starter system for which information as to exactly what happens when you activate the starer is necessary

Try another battery and see if that sorts it. Otherwise something may have been fried.

Post by the "Owner". The "Fix" was a New Stator. (Broken Wire).
After recharging the 2.5 year old AGM battery 3 times with acceptable results each time. (13+ volts & 14.5+ Volts at high idle) Purchasing a new AGM Battery, a month & a half of "pulling my hair out, all the "great solutions posted on fixya", being stranded 3 times with a "dead battery", I took the Bike to the Shop/Trained Mechanic. Many Thanks to the Post concerning the broken copper wire & "fixya.com" for allowing me to Post. Thank You all.....

How many cranking amps is the battery sappost to have for the 2006 harley

I'm not sure whet the factory battery is rated at because they don't give you the specs on it. I would think somewhere around 300 CCA would be required. Your best bet is to get the best AGM battery you can find. The H-D AGM battery is a good battery and is priced competitively with others on the market. I've had good luck with them.

If you purchase a battery tender or one of the "smart" battery chargers and plug it in after every ride, you'll be surprised at just how long the battery will last. I had one of these batteries for five years and it was still starting my bike well but I replaced it anyway. I absolutely hate having a battery let me down.

Good Luck

Actually, if you're talking about Harley's AGM battery, it's a very high quality battery and is competitively priced compared to any other AGM Batteries. An AGM battery will last you about five years as long as you keep it charged. You can get a sealed lead acid battery cheaper. However, you really don't need to know the size of the battery. Just take it out of the bike and take it with you. If you're here in the U.S., you usually have to turn in a "core", part of the EPA thing. They'll just match size of your battery and which side the terminals are on and sell it to you.

Good Luck

Starter only turns over a couple of times

Sounds like you need new battery. Take your battery out and take it to an automotive parts house. Usually they'll test it for free. It's probably got a cell that's shorting out under a load. Harley offers an AGM battery that is second to none and reasonably priced. Good Luck

Batteries

000 miles a year but spread this out through the year except for very wet windy or icy days. I have had to buy a new battery every year and yet again it's failing to turn the engine over. My garage does not have electrical power and is some distance from the house so can't run an extension lead for battery charger. Any ideas?I swapped to odyssey on the Breva 750 I had similar problem: parked outside where cant put on tender, used all year but with gaps. Original wet lead acid would die in about 4 days in winter (alarm plus electronic instruments drain), odyssey is still good enough to fire it after 2-3 weeks. there are cheaper makes of AGM battery than odyssey, and in standard battery dimensions (odyssey use their own sizes), but odyssey are the only one that could give me deep discharge information & specifications. Note check compatability of mains chargers before using on AGM batteries, correct voltage regulation is important.,,,
