Question about 2004 ATK 620 Intimidator

1 Answer

Static Timing I just got a atk 620 Special and it is my first motorcycle so I am learning as I go... and well the book has helped me out quite a bit it is leaving me in the dark on setting the timing. The book tells you to connect a multi-meter to the orange wire and to ground to check the static timing but it shows a different set up in the book then what I have. Mine seems to have some type of magnetic contact points and the book doesn’t even mention it.

My initial guess is that you have TCI or CDI ignition. Basically theres no way to manually adjust timing. It either works or doesn't.touch problem take it to a mechanic,

I have a 2002 Ducati 620 that will not start. All lights and guages work and the motor turns over but will not fire up. Help!! Thanks, Brian

Hi, Branda844 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
8. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2 and/or BAS).
11. Security alarm needs a reset.

Hello please help me setting the timing on my 1996 atk 350 motorcycle

Hi, Shawnsparks6 for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix or parts inquiry. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Timing belt adjustment

recheck timing marks to align up..
I hope you did not rotate motor with timing belt removed or while working on clutch !!
If you did you need to take it in to a bike shop to get reset or you could bend valves or lots of other things>>

ATK 700 Intimidator

I've seen both the 620 and the 700. My son-in-law had a chance to ride the 620 2 years ago at Jawbone. He rides a CR500 and was VERY impressed with the 620. I went on an ATK ride a year ago and Frank brought a 700 along. A couple guys rode it on the beach before I got there but no one rode it after we got into riding. It looks very nice. Frank White says the 500 is the play bike the 620 is the race bike and the 700 is for fat guys to climb hills with!,,

but that is OK. I love riding the smooth 440 and would like to improve it's trail capabilities. I am installing a Rekluse using Quad clutch gearing and plan on putting in a LHRB as well. I've raised the forks in the clamps as high as I can and will look at shortening my chain length a bit if I can. If it steered just a bit faster that would help tooI think the best way is to have your suspension revalved or softened. I was happy with how my Dale worked in the desert but in the tight stuff it would skip around a little. I had TooTech Suspension work on my front and back end. He took some bushings out of the forks to give me a softer top stroke on the front end and it really sticks much better now. Also it hasn't affected the bikes handling in high speed runs. Hope this helps. ,,

Rear wheel

The best I can find is this post from MAZ. I've seen other posts that say that ATK told them the rear wheel was a 605 wheel turned around just as you mention. If it's as easy as getting a 605 and buying spacers from ATK let us know
