The leak stops (or almost stops). I suspect there's something wrong with the little pin inside the stem. Is there a way I can tighten or fix this without having to bring the whole tire into a shop?Did you try looking here? I got mine at the local chain auto parts store. ,

Motorcycle tire and tube changes made easy

Changing your own tires isn't as duanting of a task as you may think. The first rule is having a nice pair of tire irons or spoons-not screwdrivers or prybars. I prefer spoons, but either can be purchased for 10-20 dollars from any motorcycle parts outlet. After you get your irons or spoons, don't use them for prybars or any other use other than changing tires. It's important that they stay free from nicks and scratches so they don't damage tire beads or rims and puncture tubes.
A five gallon pail makes a good tire changing stand. Place the rim and tire on top and remove the valve stem to release the air if it isn't already flat. Remove the retaining nut from the valve stem and push it into the rim. Loosen the bead locks if you have them and push them into the rim as well. Sometime these get stuck, if you need a hammer be sure not to damage the threads. Leave the nut on the top, it's not necessary to remove the rim locks just get them off the bead of the tire.Break the bead down around the entire rim and apply soapy water with a brush or I keep a spray bottle in the shop.Use plenty, it won't hurt anything. Pry the bead over the top of the rim, hold it with the spoon and move 2-6 inches around the rim and do the same thing with the other spoon. Keep repeating until you have the entire bead off one side. Flip the tire and rim and repeat the process. On the second side, once you get about 1/2 way you should have enough slack to pull the rim into the open side of the tire, grab the other side of the tire and pull it over the rim by hand, tube and all.Take soapy water and a scrub brush and clean all the dirt from the inside of the rim. Be sure to realign the rim liner so the holes line up with the valve stem.
Installing the tire and tube goes like this. Put the tube in the tire and put enough air in the tube just to give it it's proper shape and fill the tire. Remove the lock nut off the valve stem, if it has 2, leave the bottom one on. Apply plenty of soapy water to the inside of the tire ,tube and both beads.Open both sides of the tire beads at the valve stem, insert it thru the hole in the rim and install the lock nut, then lay the tire over the top of the rim. Apply more soapy water to the rim and start to pry the bottom bead over the rim from the valve stem in both directions. When you get to the rim lock, you'll need to flip it over and carefully pull the bead past it and then push it in the tire so it's in between the beads. Flip back over to the side you started on and finish the bottom bead. If it dried out apply more soapy water and start the top bead from the valve stem around in both directions.Only put the spoons in far enough to catch the edge of the rim to prevent puncturing the tube. As you start to get about 1/2 way around, compress the section of tire that's already mounted so the beads can move towards the center of the rim; that will give you some slack and make installation of the last 1/2 of the tire easier.When you get to a rim lock, you'll need to push it into the tire so the bead can get in between it and the rim.Finish the top bead, inflate it to insure the beads seat and then tighten the rim lock. Be sure not to exceed any bead seating pressure maximums listed on the tire. Let air out of the tire until the recommended pressure is achieved. Good luck!

Hi, I have a husky tc 250 2010 and blows smoke from a hose coming down the frame at front of motor,i think its connected to the head? its the larger of the two hoses. what does this usually mean?

if its a 4 stroke and its the breather pipe then your getting pressure build up , what colour is the smoke , white or blue ? white is water and blue is oil ! water could be a seal or gasket leak , oil could be valve seals or stems or compression leak !

Front left side by tire has break fluid on floor. Could this be from a bleed valve that is not tight enough. Break fluid was changed 2 months ago at a Honda dealer. Just noticed this 3 week ago. Thanks...

Could be the bleed leaking, but maybe not. May be caused by a leak in line close to the caliper, or by a leaking caliper. You could try tightening the bleed, cleaning the tire and area, and looking for leaks from the caliper to the brake lever.

Subject: 2002 Moto Guzzi V11 Problem: Burning/leaking oil into left cylinder after running rpm high enough for rev limiter to kick in. Engine still runs, sounds same. No new noises. Any suggestions?

If your compression is normal in both cylinders, your problem is probably a worn valve stem seal or possibly a stem seal that has popped up from the head and is now floating. By putting the cylinder to top dead center on the compression stroke and hooking the the cylinder to an air compressor through the spark plug hole you can change your valve stem seals with minimum disassembly of the motor.

I have a hi speed front end wobble And just put a new front balanced tire and it still wobbles..

Did you line up the dot on tire with the valve stem ? if not break tire down and line up bal dot and re bal. If it is taking alot of weight try relocating tire on wheel until you find a better bal position that dont require alot of weight.
I have had new tires cause wobble , spin tire on bike and check for wobble in new tire.

Rear air shock leaks

The shock absorber assembly is a unit with no serviceable parts - you can try tightening the valve in the valve stem, but your only further option is to replace the entire assembly.

I've a Pulsar 200, and there is a air leak from the nipple on the rim, i want to get it fixed. Its manafractured by MRF

You should be able to take your bike to a reputable tire shop that has the equipment to repair motorcycle tires and they should be able to repair or replace your leaky valve stem. You may want to try tightening the valve core. If this is loose, you will have a slow leak.

My honda cbr 125 feels is hard to steer as slow speeds.

sounds like the bearing's in the triple clamp area are ether warn out or is over tighten a quick test " stand over the bike like you would be like your at a stop light,place both feet on the ground and grab the handle bars with both hands and lift like your trying to lift the front of the bike up to see if you feel any play "YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIFT THE BIKE YOU COULD REALLY HURT YOU BACK". if you do feel play you will want to take the bike in to have this replaced.

there is not as much rake and trail on a dual sport as say a cruiser type making the straight line steering less stable at higher speeds than a bike w/ more rake and trail.,but on the other hand , much less steering effort and slow speed manueverability at lower speeds on the dual sport. raise front wheel up off ground and secure bike. come around to front of bike, kneel down and grab bottom of forks and pull & push front to back looking for steering stem bearing play if any tighten steering stem & recheck not too tight -steering should flop over when just off center ,if not -too tight loosen just enough.if still play after tightening, check bearing condition. also check front wheel bearing for play, and look for leaking fork seal,finally look for uneven tread wear caused by these conditions.make sure tire is properly inflated.
