I am a new motorcycle rider. I have a 600 Dirt Track Motard which shows an oil light and no pressure there is also a grinding noise. Recently I had to set it down in the street and the problem started after that. thanks for any suggestionsWell this one seems pretty straightforward. The oil light and lack of pressure mean that your oil pump has quit pumping (assuming that you've verified that there is oil in the crankcase). The grinding noise is common when running any internal combustion engine without oil pressure. That's the sound of the engine destroying itself.,,,

Recently replaced intake gaskets, engine has 332000 miles on it. Before this problem I had very low oil pressure. Now when oil heats up oil pressure goes to zero. Check gages light comes on.

Hello Marty, I suggest you install an auxiliary mechanical oil pressure gauge to see what the true oil pressure really is and go from there.

Why does it run only in the start position?

Hello Martin, Your generator might have a low oil pressure shutdown switch. First check the oil level. If oil level is low, fill oil to proper level. If oil level is fine, I would install an auxiliary oil pressure gauge . If oil pressure is normal, I would change the oil sender unit. If oil pressure is low, I would change the oil pump.

Hello Robert, you could have a bad oil sender unit. Install an auxiliary oil pressure gauge to measure the amount of oil pressure. If reading is around 15 PSI or better at idle, change the oil sender unit.

Oil pressure gage fluctuates;red oil icon stays on; alarm bell keeps ringing. I added 2 qts of oil. no change.

Hello,I can help you with your buick oil pressure problem. This is the 3800 engine correct? Is engine noisey? Would be best to install a mechnical oil pressure gauge on your engine to see if you are actually losing oil pressure or we have another problem. this tells you exactly what the engine is doing. If you do not have one the cheapest thing to try is replacing the oil pressure sending unit.if sender is defective it will cause your problem. This sending unit is above the oil filter.

Does the icon look like a oil can or is a oil life reminder light if it is a oil can icon then you need to check the vehicles oil pressure and make sure that it does have the correct amount of oil pressure and you have voltage to yhe oil pressure sending unit(switch) if it does then you need to replace the oil pressure sending unit(switch) seen alot of problem with the sending units
Good luck

Hello: You may have a inaccurate oil pressure sensor, you might try replacing the sensor but you have to remove the intake manifold to access the oil pressure sensor

Oil pressure falls and vehicle stalls(oil pressure is good 45 psi)

The most commopn cause of this is that the oil pressure sending unit on the engine is defective, if the pressure drops to far the fuel pump is shut off.

91plymoth voyeger the check gages light goes on and the oil preser gage gose down at a stop light only when in drive or revers

Hello Johnny.
At idle in gear is when your engine is running at it's slowest. The oil pump is also running slower.
As engine parts wear the oil escapes past these wear points reducing the available amount of oil flow.
This in turn reduces the oil pressure.
It is possible that the oil pressure sending switch is defective as well. But you should get the oil pressure tested on a manual gauge to verify. This is done by unthreading the oil pressure switch and installing a manual oil pressure tester with an accurate readout.
If you are hearing ticking noises the upper moving parts in the engine may not be getting proper oil pressure.

I hope your repair is an easy one.
