AND has a cheaper list price or did I dream that ?You can buy patern levers for much less than the stroke one. problem you may have is getting the little brass adjuster out of the old lever. For some strange reason it does not come with the lever. It is a bugger to remove and if you do not set it right then you can get clutch slip.,,

On a 1995 mazda protege with a manual transmission. There is slack in the linkage but the gears still sound like they are engaging. But when you let off the clutch nothing happens. Any suggestions on...

Open the hood, have a confederate push the clutch pedal in and out. You look for the thing at the end of the engine shaped like a large bell. This connects the engine to the transmission and has all the clutch stuff inside. At some point on its side there will be a rubber boot with a lever coming out from it. That lever is pushed back and forth by a piston which is inside a slave cylinder, and that is operated by the clutch pedal. So if you see no movement of the lever whilst your pal is moving the pedal in and out most likely your problem lies with the hydraulic clutch, either at the master or slave end. This is a good thing as it does not require removing the engine and replacing all the stuff inside the bell housing. You buy a new hydraulic clutch system pre-bled, about 200 bucks and pay someone to put it in. The car is 16 years old however and if the little lever is moving you are at the point where your only real choice is to pay someone to replace all the clutch stuff and resurface the flywheel. That will be much more and may well exceed the value of the car.

OK for you experts the slave piston moves it only one way and a spring returns it.

I have a 2004 Honda VT750 Shadow Aero (shaft drive). Clutch apparently needs adjustment. Nuetral is easy to find but when shifting into 1st or 2nd or any other gear, bike stops. Is this a simple cable...

Adjustment is made at clutch end first and then fine-tuned at the handle bar end. Adjust at clutch end until there is no free play on the lever. Then slack off the nut a quarter turn. Test clutch operation and adjust at the lever end if nescessary. Remember to lock the nuts at the clutch end.

How to install kickstart case cover and gear assembly on 69 flh 4 speed ratchet top transmision

If all you want to do is install a the kick start case cover, drain the transmision fluid and just take the old one off along with the kicker lever intact. You'll need to look inside and see the relationship of the kicker gear stop and the kick starter lever. Then, once you see how it's supposed to look, ie. the kicker straight up and the kicker gear stop at the X o'clock positon, start taking the stuff apart. Transfer all the old parts to the new kicker cover. Align the kicker gear properly with the kicker lever. When you install the old shaft into the new cover, make sure you put a new seal in between the two bushings so it doesn't leak. Put the new cover with the rest of the kicker parts in it back on the transmission and refill the transmission with lube. 20-24 ounces.

If the clutch gear on the end of the mainshaft needs to be replaced, it's advisable to have the special puller to get it off with. If you don't have the puller, you can put some pressure on the clutch gear like you're trying to pry it off and rap on it with a hammer. Hit the side of the gear not the end of the shaft. Don't hit it hard enough to break anything, just a good tap should pop it off. If not, you'll have to find someone with a puller or buy one.

good Luck

Can't get the clutch on a suzuki 800 intruder to hold pressure

Oil should be 10W40 SF or SG grade. Anything else will cause the clutch to slip. There must be freeplay on the clutch cable (0.4-0.6in). Adjust handle bar clutch lever screw all the way out then adjust at gearbox end and revert to handle bar adjustment for fine adjustments. If this does not solve the problem take the clutch apart and measure driven plate thickness (3.12in minimum for the 1st plate and 2.62in minimum for the others)
Measure clutch spring free length. There are 2 sets (4 springs each). 0.97in minimum and 0.92in minimum respectively.
A slipping clutch is caused by incorrect friction, that is incorrect oil or insufficient pressure. Pressure is supplied by the springs on the discs and driven plates.
If the discs, driven plates or bucket is worn it will cause slippage.
If you pull in the clutch and it disengages but starts to re- engage after a short period you will need to replace the clutch master cylinder seals.

Clutch not disengaging completely when handle pulled completely. Wants to tug me across parking lot. Hard to shift at slow speed. to find neutral shut it off.

either your clutch needs to be adjusted or your clutch has something in it preventing it from fully releasing. either way its best to take it to the shop or someone who knows how to properly inspect the primary case. in my case, a plate fell apart and the rivets were in between the clutches.

Clutch cable's change

If this is the same as the RS125 cable i changed then the cable goes into the clutch cover engine casing yes? You do not have to take the whole engine apart you need to disconnect the cable from the lever and then you will have to take the clutch cover off. before you do this you will need to lean the bike on its side as you will lose the gearbox oil otherwise. plus the cluch will fall out as it is held in with dowels and not bolted (stupid design) once you have the cover off then you can disconnect the cable. if your gentle when taking the cover off then u will not have to replace the gasket however this rarely happens you will deffianly need to get a new gasket about 4quid. reconnect your new cable and then put the gasket on and be carefull wen putting the casing back on the engine making sure you do not damage the new gasket.
hope this helps.

Cant get transmission apart from the engine to change the clutch on a 2002 hyundai elantra

you have to release the clutch lever. take the bolt off of the clutch lever and take the lever off. this will release the clutch. I got mine loose but the only problem is how to reset it after you put the clutch back in.

Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum - terrible loud noise

What I found was that it is the roller brush. If you are willing to get a little dirty and do it yourself, there is the roller brush that most likely needs to be cleaned. After a little tinkering of my own, the roller brush can be slipped out or just shift it out of place to clean it. There are two ends to the roller brush and the brush itself. Of you twist the two ends until the come apart you would probably find a lot of hair and other long strand items wrapped around the rod that goes through the brush. Once you clean that out it should work like new. If that does not work then it is probably the clutch which is what the belt around the roller brush is connected to. Hope this helps, it is a simple solution.
