I did some research. i wanted to get rotella 15/40 synthetic but walmart did not have it. all they had was 5/40 synthetic. is this ok to use in the falco? have been using 10/40 synthetic spectro from dealer. Rotella is made for heavy duty diesel engines buy some for your PowerStroke Ford or Cummins Dodge. If you are hellbent to buy Shell products get the Advance VSX4 oil .....if you can find it.,,,

Can I use after market motorcycle oil in my HD Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Instead of HD motorcycle oil

Yes, any quality air cooled engine oil will suffice, and in a pinch/emergency any oil is better than no/ very low oil.

Is the engine oil and transmission the same on 1998 goldwing 1500

Yes the engine and transmission run in the same oil. Use any oil with the JASO MA motorcycle certification. 10w-40 for cold climate, 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Do not use any oil that says Energy Conserving on the label. It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. Synthetic oil will help your bike run cooler and shift easier. You will need 4 quarts of oil , an oil filter, and a new aluminum sealing washer for the drain plug.

Took cover off there was oil inside is this normal for a c90 to have oil in the stator cover

My clymer manual says yes. Oil is there.
The first thing I have to do is drain the oil and pull the oil filter.
I'm replacing my stator this weekend btw.
I'm not a mechanic, but I'm well inclined and have lots of knowledge and friends that know more than I do.
I hope to have a successful stator replacement on my '07 C90T by 09/26/09
My replacement stator is $173 from It's advertised to be improved and puts out 20% more juice. It will be in Wed. 09/23
I'll watch your page for updates. . .Joe

I have a 1999 vulcan. gear for oil unit exploded and seized engin

Yes, it is possible. This has happened to others through the years and the problem is usually caused by a lack of oil and oil filter changes. Dirty oil can plug up the oil system and cause the bike to seize.

No clutch

Yes this is evident in replacing engine oil to motorcycle engine.

Engine oil designed for automobiles isnt good for motorbikes as they offer additives for added "slipping". THis will cause your clutch to slip. Automobile Engine's oil system is separate from the clutch while motorcycle's clutch and engine fall under one oil system.

Use engine oil designed for motorcycles.
Solution: Buy and Engine flush, pour it to your crankshaft, run the engine for 5 minutes (idle) then drain. Replace with new motorcycle oil.

Petroleum-based oil or synthetic oil

Yes. BMW doesn’t recommend synthetic oil until the engine is broken-in. I notice that many bikes seem to require 10w-40 oil. Most manufacturers of course recommend their own specific name brand.,,
