The Aprilia part number is #0280102. I would be inclined to go with an OE part here as I've heard some mixed reviews with aftermarket stuff.

Head lights dim and lose power steering when at low speed light stop sign or parking

The most common cause of these problems is a loose slipping fan belt. For most cars the belt is held tight by a tension-er. This is a pulley that is spring loaded. Usually the tension-er applies the force to the back side of the belt. Tension-er has been known to stick and not flex with the belt allowing the belt to slip. Also if the belt is worn it can slip. Another possibility is that one of the accessories, on the belt circuit are having trouble rotating prohibiting the belt to operate freely. Careful inspection of the belt will determine its condition. With the hood open listen to the motor at idle and the sound of a squeaking belt is an indication that the belt is slipping. To test for the tension-er with the engine off try tapping in the direction of tightening the belt on the tension-er with a rubber mallet. Start the engine and observe if the condition is still the same. If it has corrected the problem than the tension-er either needs to be cleaned or replaced.

How do I set the timing on my aprilia scarabeo Rotax engine

Hi, Brenda for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix/test or parts inquiry. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Spark plug gap for 503 Rotex

Hi Faye,

I found this,

Rotax spark plug advisory for ultralight, experimental lightsport, amateur built aircraft.

Rotax 2 stroke aircraft engine spark plugsThe recommended spark plugs for the Rotax 277, Rotax 377, Rotax 447, Rotax 503, Rotax 532, Rotax 582 are the NGK B8ES series or the NGK BR8ES ( the R in the spark plug denotes it is a resistor plug and should be used in all of the CDI ignition engines.

BUT the Bosch points ignition engines should NOT use both a resistor plug and a resistor spark plug cap - use one or the other.

The least expensive option in the long run is the cap as you purchase it once while the resistor plugs cost more than the standard plug each time you buy them.

Ad Code TwoHere

Use spark plugs that have a SOLID TIP - DO NOT USE spark plugs that have an aluminum screw on tip. They vibrate loose, the tip wears making a loose cap to plug fit, and can lead to the spark plug arcking across from the cap to the plug. Also the screw on style spark plugs are NOT designed for our applications, the gap is generally set up for .030 to .035 thou. The solid tip spark plugs are set up for a gap of .015 to .020 thou.

Spark plug gap

  • Allowable range: 0.4-0.5mm / .015 -.020"

  • Optimal: I usually set them to .015 and let them wear out to .019

  • This also helps getting the engine started in colder conditions

Looking to buy an 09 lancer. A little leary about the CVT tranny. I have 25 years Ford and GM experience but not much about CVTs. Would appreciate any input

I was a little leary myself when i bought the my 08 lancer gts cvt. I have only owned it for three months and has a little over 51000 km on but havent had any problems with it. You will be very impressed with the smooth operation of the cvt, the sprotronic and paddle shifters are amazing and work beautifully. I would recommend it over a regular five speed or a rough changing auto tranny. Besides the fact you should have proper warm up for it to work in colder temps(which is good for all trannys anyways) and the special transmission fluid needed. Fewer components and operates much like a snomobile belt drive system which i thought might affect gas mileage but i got a suprising 42mpg at 100km/hr. Towing anything might be an issue with this transmission since its a belt drive system(small camper or travel trailer) but im not to certain about that.So far so good......i would get another one!

How to bench set carbs on jet ski? {bombadier} also idle screw? {where}? Itsa rotax engine

you can get them close on the bench, but will still need to be synchronized with a gauge set on the engine. Find a reference point on the throttle blades, usually a tiny port or hole on the engine side of the carbs. Make sure all the throttle blades are at the same position, and they should be close. Idle screw should be a cable or rod that actuates all the carbs in a central point.
