Don't worry - this isn't a squid's how can I wheelie thread. I was enjoying a pleasant ride around some back roads on Saturday and decided to push the RSV harder than I typically do. So in 2nd gear at about 4000 rpm I twist the throttle wide open and the bike accelerates like mad up to about 9,000 rpm, but without even a hint of a power wheelie. Same result going a little slower to begin with, same result going a little faster to begin with. Same result in 3rd gear. (I didn't try it in 1st gear - too scared). Is this typical? I was under the impression that most 1000cc sportbikes were happy to get the front wheel off the ground in the lower gears. Or is that just 4 cylinder bikes? (Not that I'm in the market for a bike that wheelies - I'm happy that the RSV seems so happy to accelerate quickly without getting scary).,Its is a worlwide conspiracy. All dynanometer operators are in on it. The Rotax must be putting out so large numbers that the Japanese manufacturers are silencing those in the know! Not sure why yours does not wheelie. Mine does really easily, although I have a full dual exhaust, power commander, renegade airbox, early Mille air funnel and Tuono bars, yoke and risers. So mine should wheelie. I would still expect yours to lift the wheel in at least first gear. Maybe you need to get out there and spank its little arse in first gear, then report back.,,,

Hi Anonymous, for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix/test or parts inquiry. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Wide open as in wide open throttle?? You mean the engine is racing? Something is wrong with the throttle controls, or the throttle valve in the carburetor may be sticking open. Look down the carb throat. At its base will be the throttle valves-"butterfly" valves just like the choke valve on top of carb. The throttle valve should be closed at rest, or at idle, or when gas pedal is not moved. Rotate the throttle lever on the carburetor by hand (when gas pedal is pressed down, the throttle is rotated). The throttle valve at the bottom of the carb should open and close with the throttle lever.
If the valve is sticking, spray some carburetor cleaner down it, and spray the outside clean, too. Work the throttle back and forth to make sure it is free to move.
For a high idle, have the carburetor adjusted. Timing should be checked, too-that can cause a high idle, but wouldn't cause it to go wide open.
Let us know what you find. Good luck.

Bike starts wide open after wheel crash not throttle problem

If it is starting and going wide open the throttle is either stuck wide open or you have a huge vacuum leak across all the cylinders.

Throttle is stuck open

Damsged throttle cable or housing. If cruisecontrol equiped, could be interfering with throttle grip rotation. good luck and no wheelies without a rider.

Lift power

Wheelie MONSTER With bike completely stock wheelies are easy. With full DP Termi system and stock gearing it will lift the front on power even in 2nd gear. With 14/42 gearing it will flip over in first if you just whack the throttle open WFO in first. Power wheelies in 2nd & 3rd no problem. The 998 Testra motor is significantly more powerful than the S4. All the above wheelies are all throttle only no clutching or yanking required. Mine is a Beast,,
