The Spyder uses a longer filter than the other applications using the same Rotax motor. As far as I know, BRP is the only source for this filter to date.

I tried using filters for the other Rotax 998 applications and they are all too short.

The SM5 and SE5 Spyder both use the same engine oil filter. Same as the Buell 1125 and the extended filter for the Aprilia (using the same 998 Rotax). The SE5 Spyder uses an additional Transmission Filter which was updated to a longer dimension in 2012. Both the engine filter and the original, shorter transmission filter are made by Hi-Flo, K&N and BikeMaster. However, BRP is the only source for the longer transmission filter.

Oil light stays on

Most likely a bad oil pressure switch. This is a fairly common problem with some model year Spyders. Replace the Oil Pressure Switch.

I have a CCM ft 710 and cant find the oil filter, does it have one, also whats the best oil to service it with, the manual says Silkolene 10/50

Hi, Andygarypott for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Where do i install the oil cooler lines to the motor for it to make the oil pass through the cooler

Most oil coolers attach between the spin on oil filter and the engine. Usually a special plate the oil lines bolt to is mounted between the filter cover and the crankcase or the spin on oil filter and the crankcase. The pressure used to push the oil through the filter is also used to push the oil through the cooler before it is pumped around the motor. the cooler will do no good with out the adapter plate that attaches it to the motor.

Where is the transmission oil serviced

Run the Low Rider's motor for a few minutes to warm the oil up. Shut off the bike.
  • 2 Find your Low Rider's drain plug (on the oil pan). Using the screwdriver, loosen then remove the drain plug, and drain the oil into the drain pan.
  • 3 Remove the Low Rider's dipstick.
  • 4 Let the oil drain completely.
  • 5 Clean the drain plug threads with a clean cloth or paper towel, apply sealant, and replace the oil plug and dipstick.
  • 6 Move the drain pan to beneath the oil filter. Using the oil filter wrench, remove the oil filter.
  • 7 Discard the filter in the pan with the old oil. It is full of oil.
  • 8 With a clean rag or paper towel, clean the area where the gasket meets the motor.
  • 9 With a clean finger, rub a bit of new oil on the gasket of the new oil filter before installing it.
  • 10 Install the new filter, turning until snug, then turn it by hand another 1/2 turn. Take care to not over-tighten, as this will damage the filter gasket or the filter, possibly causing the Low Rider to fail.
  • 11 Open the oil reservoir, using the funnel; fill the tank with the fresh oil and close the reservoir.
  • 12 Run the motor for a few moments to coat the engine with the new oil. Check for leaks. (If you find any, check the filter and drain plug for a tight fit.)
  • 13 If there are no leaks, after the motor has run for a few minutes, turn off the motor and check the oil level. Top it off if necessary.

  • hope this helps
