UK delaers rarely give you a full tank! It was on two segments and I managed to get 13.5 litres into the tank admittedly it was on the side stand (centre stand on order!). I guess as ever it will be a case of getting to know the machine and when to fill up it's too heavy to be pushing down the road out of fuel thats for sure! The fuel gauge is werid and will remain at full for about 30 miles before the gauge moves ie one of the cheese's go. I found that it can take a mile or so before you get the correct level and doesn't seems calibrated, the last few cheese's disappear faster the first ones I getting about 150 miles to a tank full. Its suppose to be 25 litre tank - they lied ! the max I've managed so far is approx 18.5 ltrs when the light was on for about 10 miles. I full up on the last cheese and the filler is a bit of pain ,,,

Hi, Steve you could have a faulty sending unit or gauge, there could be a problem with your wiring. On models with the fuel gauge posing as a left-hand fuel cap the gauge is a press fit do not try to unscrew it, simply ample force lift up in a rocking motion to remove gauge. Disconnect wires to the gauge and with a set of positive and negative jumpers from the battery connect the positive jumper and flash the negative, gauge should peg full, if not replace the gauge. With a test light check for power to the sending unit, then remove the sending unit and manually operate the float arm slowly with the correct wiring hooked up to the fuel gauge and sending unit and the ignition on, the gauge should respond accordingly if not replace the float arm assembly. If your fuel gauge registers the incorrect amount of fuel in the tank you can try bending the float arm the necessary amount for a more accurate reading. The fuel gauge on my 2007 Honda CBR 125 R is stuck on full. How can I fix this? I'm very new to motorcycles.

Fill it up with a little different density fuel, like E85, run normally for the sensor unlock. If it doesn't work, you have to take it out and inspect for blockages, gum or replace.

1998 gsxr600 does this model have a fuel gauge and gear id

No it does not, it has a warning light for fuel, and a Neutral light for you gears, after that it is up to you to know or try to remember what gear you are in. As for fuel....use the odometer, when you fill up with fuel, reset the trip meter, you should see about 135-150 miles before the warning light comes on. From there go get your fuel and see what mileage you have, so that everytime you get fuel you can reset it and by using the odometer on the road you will know exactly how much fuel you do have. It is way more accurate than a gauge and it will not stop working, I hope this helps you

When I fill up my fuel tank, the fuel gauge goes to empty and fuel light blinks eight times. After several miles down the road, the gauge will finally go to the full mark and the light will stop blinking....

i think that the problem you face is due to your fuel gauge more than the battery .
the fuel gauge at full tank can be running out of sensor due to faulty gauge mechanism . i would not worry too much as this is common even in cars .
My advise to you is not to over fill your tank and this will resolve your problem .
