UK delaers rarely give you a full tank! It was on two segments and I managed to get 13.5 litres into the tank admittedly it was on the side stand (centre stand on order!). I guess as ever it will be a case of getting to know the machine and when to fill up it's too heavy to be pushing down the road out of fuel thats for sure! The fuel gauge is werid and will remain at full for about 30 miles before the gauge moves ie one of the cheese's go. I found that it can take a mile or so before you get the correct level and doesn't seems calibrated, the last few cheese's disappear faster the first ones I getting about 150 miles to a tank full. Its suppose to be 25 litre tank - they lied ! the max I've managed so far is approx 18.5 ltrs when the light was on for about 10 miles. I full up on the last cheese and the filler is a bit of pain ,,,

How does the fuel gauge work on a Smart Car? It's measured in 8ths and doesn't reduce slowly but by chunks of 8hrs. The fuel economy is really heavy. Could the fuel gauge be faulty?

Just fill the car's tank up and run it for 100 miles and then refill the tank to full again. Check the miles run and fuel amount added and then check the gauge position before and after the fill and calculate the Miles per gallon. This manual check will show if the fuel gauge is not reading accurately and if you are burning excessive fuel. If you are burning excessive fuel have the engine scanned as the computer may be generating some fault codes which will help point to the possible causes of the excessive fuel usage.

How do you replace a faulty fuel sensor on an aprilia 150 mojito, the gauge bounces when full and soon goes to show empty

Hi, Anonymous you could have a faulty sending unit or gauge, there could be a problem with your wiring. On models with the fuel gauge posing as a left-hand fuel cap the gauge is a press fit do not try to unscrew it, simply ample force lift up in a rocking motion to remove gauge. Disconnect wires to the gauge and with a set of positive and negative jumpers from the battery connect the positive jumper and flash the negative, gauge should peg full, if not replace the gauge. With a test light check for power to the sending unit, then remove the sending unit and manually operate the float arm slowly with the correct wiring hooked up to the fuel gauge and sending unit and the ignition on, the gauge should respond accordingly if not replace the float arm assembly. If your fuel gauge registers the incorrect amount of fuel in the tank you can try bending the float arm the necessary amount for a more accurate reading. Fuel gauge doesn't work

mine did the same thing 2 years ago. i assume it is probably the fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank so i priced a new one. as i remember it was about 350.00 for just the part. my computer reads in gallons and is still accurate as to telling me how much fuel i have used so when i use 10 to 12 gallons out of the tank i fill it again. so far i have had no problem doing it like that. just don't run out of fuel because that is really bad for fuel pumps. mine has a 14 gallon tank so i make sure that i never go below 12 gallons used. i usually try to fill at 10 gallons used

Fuel gage showing half a tank but trip computer only registering 60 miles left

Its very simple. If the gauge is showing half full then fill the tank and see how much fuel it takes. If the amount you add is approximately 50 percent of the fuel tank capacity then you know the fuel gauge is accurate . In that case the computer is giving an inaccurate reading and should be ignored. All you need is an accurate fuel gauge - it does not matter a row of beans what the computer says if the fuel gauge is reading correctly.

'05 ford escape - car won't start if fuel below 1/4 tank

Not sure about P0195, but P093 is for a problem with the fuel rail pressure sensor. The sensor could be faulty or it could be accurate when the fuel system is empty.
Your sending unit for the fuel gauge could be off. Can you check the amount of fuel it takes to fill the tank when the gauge reads half ? If the gauge is right it should take half of the capacity of the tank to fill it up.

2006 ENVOY fuel guage reads empty after fill up. What is the cause and how to rectify?

Usually I find there are two common causes for this problem. If the gauge goes to empty after a fill up but then starts to work and be fairly accurate as the fuel level in the tank drops then it's often the fuel level sending unit which is attached to the fuel pump module inside the tank. I have seen some guages go bad also [actually the servo motor that runs the gauge] but usually the gauge will stick in one spot and rarely move or go to either end of the scale and stick there. A good shop should be able to determine the cause of your problem pretty quickly. Hope this helps and good luck!

I have a Vespa 125 Grandtourismo. Even if i fill the fuel tank completely, the meter only shows half full....why?

hello there:
from the sounds of it you have a bad float or a bad fuel sending unit you may also may need to replace the fuel gauge would start with the fuel sending unit and the float first then move on to the fuel gauge and this solve the problem.....best of luck to you and hope this helps
